Suspect Sought In Van Nuys Stabbing

A Van Nuys man suspected of stabbing another man to death during an argument over a woman was still at large Sunday, authorities said.

Los Angeles police issued an all-points bulletin for Gregorio Maximo, 23, on Saturday. Witnesses told police Maximo fled after stabbing John Miser, also 23, about 3:45 a.m., said Officer Cindy Rangwala. Miser was found on the floor of a bedroom of his home in a trailer park in the 7600 block of Balboa Boulevard in Van Nuys, police said.

Miser was pronounced dead at the scene of stab wounds to his upper body.

Services for Michael Lawrence Pastoret, 59, of Shasta Lake will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Allen and Dahl Funeral Chapel in Redding. James Allen of the chapel will officiate.

Mr. Pastoret died Monday, August 11, 1997, at Redding Medical Center. Born November 7, 1937, in Duluth, Minnesota, he moved to Shasta County in 1969. He owned and operated Aladdin Welding in Redding, and was a member of the Redding Moose Losge and Palo Cedro Golf Course.

Survivors include wife Iva; five stepchildren; and many grandchildren. Memorialcontributions may be made to the Michael Pastoret Trust Fund at the Redding Bank of Commerce, 1177 Placer Street, Redding, California, 96001.

Burbank Teen Thrown From Motorcycle Dies

Windy Point - A Burbank resident died Wednesday May 25, 1994, aapparently after a strong gust pushed his motorcycle off Higway 111, causing it to roll and throwing him from the bike, officials said.

Nicholas John Yonan, 17, was pronounced dead at 1: 13 p.m. atthe sceane, about one mile south of Overture Drive, a Riverside County deputy coroner said.

California Highway Patrol Officers Dawn Price said witnesses told her Yonan was traveling south on Highway 111 at 80 to 90 mph when strong gusts drove him into the center divider. The motorcycle left the road and flew end over end at least three times, Price said. 

Yonan, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown and suffered multiple traumatic injuries, the deputy coroner said. He was interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills, California. Visit his Find A Grave Memorial Here

HEAD-ON CRASH KILLS BURBANK MOTORCYCLIST

A 22-year-old Burbank man was killed Tuesday after his motorcycle went out of control and smashed into an oncoming car. Clifford P. Cook of 1438 N. Broadway, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident in the 6300 block of Forest Lawn Drive in the Griffith Park area.

Officers said Cook was apparently traveling too fast on a turn when his motorcycle went out of control and smashed into an oncoming auto. The accident occurred at 4:20 p.m.

Dennis Canterbury, 42, of Los Angeles, died of cancer on Friday, December 9, 1994. Survived by his loving parents, Jim and Esther Canterbury of Canyon Country; brother, Doug Canterbury, sister-in-law, Diann Canterbury; neice, Nicole, and nephews, Brandon and Ryan of Camarillo; brother, Michael Canterbury and nephew, Michael of Tujunga; and many beloved friends. 

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 1994 aboard the Pacific Hornblower in Marina Del Rey.

Terry P. Runyon, Born November 12, 1957, passed away July 15, 2005. Terry was a devoted employee of the City of Los Angeles, Civic Center as a plumber for 25 years. Every project he accomplished was first rate and done with pride. He had a hugh heart and gave to all he met. He will be sadly missed.

He is survived by his fiancee, Linda Stoddard, mother, Anna, sons Eric and Charles, a granddaughter and many friends.

A Memorial service will be held at Church of the Hills, Forest Lawn Hollywood Hill (L.A.) on Sunday, August 7, 2005 at 5 p. m.

WEATHERFORD - Rodney George Asp of Willow Park died Friday June 29, 1990 in Weatherford. He was 46. Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. today at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Home in Weatherford. 

Mr. Asp was born in Burbank, California, and had lived in Parker County for twelve years. He was an employee of Wayne Tool and Die Company. Mr. Asp was a veteran and a Methodist.

The family suggests that memorials be made to Criswell's Children, KDFW/Channel 4, or to any home for abused and neglected children.

Survivors; Wife, Jo Asp of Willow Park; three daughters, Terry Asp of Washington, Dana Buntin of Fort Worth and Robbie Lindley of Weatherford; two sons, Kenneth Asp of Washington and Stephen Jenkins of California; one brother, Wayne Asp of California; and three grandchildren.

Stanley Russell Sobiegraj, 33, of Phelan died February 9, 1975 in a Barstow hospital from injuries received in an automobile accident north of Baker that earlier claimedthe life of his wife, Carol.

A graveside service and interment is scheduled Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Sawtelle Veterans Cemetery in West Los Angeles; visitation will be Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Kern Memorial Chapel in Victorville.

Mr. Sobiegraj, a Michigan native, had lived in Phelan for one year. He is survived by a daughter and son, Joyce and James of Burbank; two step-sons, James and Jon Ashforth of Phelan; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sobiegraj of Arleta; his maternal grandmother, Lucy Hamlin of Florida; and one sister, Peggy Cody of Arleta.
