ERICKSON - Duane Evan Erickson , Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, went home to the lord on January 26, 2007. Duane was born on June 17th, 1933, in Rockwell City, Iowa. After his family settled in California, he graduated from Burbank High School in 1952. He was a tremendous baseball player who signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox, until he was injured and forced to leave the game.
In October of 1953, he met the love of his life, Ann Obrymski. They were married on July 9th, 1955. They resided in the San Gabriel Valley for 30 years. He was a registered parishioner at St. Martha's Catholic Church in La Puente and later at St. Elizabeth Anne Seton in Rowland Heights.
He was employed at Lyon Metal Products, in the City Of Industry and was a player/manager on their semi-pro baseball team. In the early 1960's, he was, also, a player/manager for the San Gabriel Valley Merchants. Later, he spent many years in the plastics packaging business as a General Manager. He and his wife, Ann, moved to Rialto in 1988 and have been registered parishioners of Blessed John XXIII (formerly St. Thomas Moore) for the past 19 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Darwin and Alberta Erickson and younger brother, Ronald Erickson . Duane is survived by his wife Ann Lorraine Erickson . Three children: Richard Paul Erickson of Grand Terrace, Kyle Ann and her husband Donald Bongioro of Rowland Heights and Michael Duane and his wife Elvia Erickson . Seven grand children: Brittany Erickson of Diamond Bar, Heather (nee Bongiorno) Goodman of Eden, Wy., Andrea Bongiorno of Rowland Heights, Michael Bongiorno of La Habra, Adam Erickson (U.S. Army - El Paso TX.), Timothy Erickson ( U.S. Navy - San Diego) and Evan Erickson of Rialto. Eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at: Blessed John XXIII Catholic Church - 222 E. Easton St., Rialto - Rosary at 10:00 AM and Mass at 11:00 AM In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that all donations be made to the Odyssey Foundation - 225 W.
