MARGARET G . PARKS Margaret was bo rn on October 6, 1917 in Burbank of a pioneering family. Years later, she would be honored by Woodbury University with their Founder's Day Heritage Award for her family's history in this city.
After graduation from Burbank High School, Margaret married Earl Parks , a loving union that would last 62 years. They resided in Burbank where Margaret lived until her death on July 13, 2007. Margaret was an involved member of her community, belonging to the First Congregational Church and more recently Firs t United Methodist Church of Burbank. Margaret was a charter member of Job's Daughters Bethel #97, the Letter Carriers Auxiliary, Friends of the Library and Burbank Historical Society. She was a beloved Sunday school teacher and Girl Scout leader.
Margaret was known for her good cooking and homemade cookies. Along with her husband, they were honored as Outstanding Burbank Couple by the Women's Council of Burbank. Margaret worked as a buyer/clerk for Arnold's Department Store, and 30 years after retirin g , people still tell her they remember her from Arnold's. The family would like to thank Romana "Mercy" Ortega for her years of loving care of Margaret.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Marsha Bell and Bonnie Becken; two grandchildren and two great grandsons; and her brother, Dale Eichar. A Memorial Service will be held for Margaret on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at First United Methodist Church, 700 N. Glenoaks Blvd., Burbank. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
