Eileen Riordan, age 58, of Keota, Iowa, died Thursday, October 28, 2004, at the Washington County Hospital in Washington. Eileen was born August 4, 1946 in Petrolia, Ontario, Canada. She graduated from Burbank High School in Burbank, California and attended cosmetology school. Eileen married John Riordan July 20, 1975 in Chatsworth, California. The couple moved to Keota after their marriage.
Eileen loved to bowl and has won several state and national events. She served as a Secretary for the Sigourney Women’s Bowling Association and served on the Board of Directors and other positions for the Washington Women’s Bowling Association. She was an active volunteer for 18 years with the Special Olympics serving in different capacities. Her favorite job was being a bus driver for the school children.
She was a wonderful mother; always there when her children needed her. She enjoyed reading, going for drives with her husband and she loved to dance.
Survivors include her loving husband: John Riordan of Keota; her children: Christie Stuckland of Oxford, Shane Fleming of Keota, Jim Riordan of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Teresa Riordan of Sigourney; her mother: Marie Candlish and husband Dan of Hemet, California; sister: Phyllis Sale of Hemet, California; niece: Marie Brown of Ventura, California; nephew: Jeff McCracken of Moberly, Missouri; lifelong friend: Mary Ouvri of Santa Clarita, California; several other friends and relatives in Canada and California. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Fannie and Richard Adams; uncles: Alan Adams, Harvey Adams and Dalton McCallum and nephew: Charles Lawrence Beatly.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2004, at Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota with Rev. Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Keota. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2004, at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where there will be a prayer service and rosary at 6:00 p.m.
