Kevin Lynn Scheibel, BHS 1955Aug. 1,1937 - April 29, 2004
A funeral service for Kevin Lynn Scheibel will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday. May 5 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, located at 329 S. Mill St., with Pastor Daniel Alsop presiding. Kevin passed away in Bakersfield on Thursday, April 29.Kevin was born in Grand Island. Neb. to Edward J. H. Scheibel and Evelyn Tockey. He attended schools in Burbank and graduated from Burbank High in 1955.
Kevin entered the United States Navy in 1956, where he served aboard the U.S.S. Helena battleship. He was honorably discharged in 1958.Kevin worked for Menasco in Burbank as a source inspector in the aircraft industry7. After building his home and moving to Tehachapi in 1979, he was employed as a correctional officer at California Correctional Institution for six years.
Kevin was married to Patricia Louise Young at First Lutheran Church in Burbank on Nov. 25,1961. He was a lifelong Lutheran at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Tehachapi and at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Canyon Country serving as elder, choir member, church council and various committees. His hobbies included memorizing the Bible, fishing, drawing and gardening.
Kevin was best known in Tehachapi as the man who rode his bike everywhere, usually a trip to pick up the mail and stop at Jack-in-the-Box to get a burger. Kevin's favorite Bible verse was John 14:6: Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Kevin Edward Scheibel and wife Cinthia of Tehachapi, Brent Lewis Scheibel and Theresa of Tehachapi, and daughter, Teresa Louise Santosusso and husband Steve of New Jersey; grandchildren, Kevin Edward Scheibel Jr., Collin Bruce Scheibel, Leiah Michelle Scheibel, Brynn Danielle Scheibel, Johnna Paulina Santosusso and Isabelle Louise Santosusso; sisters, Silver Morris of Jenks, Okla. and Crystal Thompson of Glendale. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward A. Scheibel of Simi Valley.
Funeral services will be handled by Wood Family Funeral Service.
