Karyl Arthur Napper 1924-2009 Karyl Arthur Napper , age 84, passed away on March 24, 2009. During the last few years of his life Karyl was afflicted with Alzheimer's disease. He was born on April 14, 1924 in Los Angeles and was a resident of Long Beach since 1950.
He was a junior high school teacher/counselor and high school counselor for 38 years for the Long Beach Unified School District from 1951-1989. He loved being a teacher/counselor and helping his students.
Karyl also proudly served his country as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. He then dedicated 25 more years to the Air Force Reserves and attained the rank of Lt. Colonel. In his spare time, beyond family activities, he enjoyed woodworking, gardening and traveling.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, of 58 years; and their children, Cindi, Gary (Kim), Jeff (Judy), and Brian (Tricia); Karyl is also survived by his 14 wonderful grandchildren; and his brother, Lowell.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Cornerstone Church, 1000 Studebaker Road, Long Beach, CA 90815 at 1:00 p.m. (562) 296-6490.
