Ruth Evelyn Scott McPherson, BHS 1941
Ruth Evelyn Scott McPherson, 77, of Ashland, died Sunday (March 3, 2002) at Skylark Assisted Living Center in Ashland. A private service will be held. Interment will be in Santa Rosa, Calif.

She was born Oct. 10, 1924, in Memphis, a daughter of Noel E. and Bertha Barret. Prior to World War II, her family moved to Burbank, Calif., where she graduated from Burbank High School in 1941.
During World War II, she was a lead accountant for McDonnell Douglas. In 1944, she married Dale Scott. They divorced in 1955. On Nov. 19, 1959, in Reno, Nev., she married Bert Arthur McPherson, who preceded her in death. They lived in various communities in Northern California, including Cloverdale, Rohnert Park, Citrus Heights and North Bend.
The McPhersons owned and operated Coos Bay Salvage in Coos Bay. In 1982 and 1983, Mrs. McPherson attended Southwestern Oregon College in Coos Bay. She moved to Ashland in 1998.
She was an accomplished potter, winning blue ribbons at several shows. She enjoyed playing bridge and making crafts.
Survivors include two sons, Geoffrey, Ashland, Jonathan, Richmond, Calif.; a daughter, Patricia Long, Moss Beach, Calif.; two sisters, two brothers; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael.
