William Arthur Jones, BHS 1975?

William Arthur Jones, 43, died May 4, 2000, in San Diego.

Mr. Jones was born in Burbank. A year after graduating from Burbank High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard eight ships, including the USS John F. Kennedy and the USS New Orleans. He also served at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. While stationed in Holy Loch, Scotland, he repaired nuclear submarines

Mr. Jones retired from the Navy as a Machinist's Mate First Class in 1996. He entered many marathon and and triathlon competitions and enjoyed off-road motorcycling and scuba diving. At the time of his death, he was assistant manager of Automotive Hobby Shop at San Diego Naval Station.

He is survived by his daughter, Aimee Erica Jones; parents, Hattie and Richard Pierce, of Burbank; brother, Don Jones; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services were private. Interment was at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Point Loma, San Diego.
