Delbert LeMoyne Mainard, BHS 1942
SPRINGFIELD, Delbert LeMoyne Mainard of Springfield died Dec. 13, 2007 of age-related causes at age 84. Private burial will be in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. A memorial service was held at Briarwood Retirement Center.
He was born Aug. 25, 1923, in Burbank, Calif., to Earl and Pearl Napper Mainard. He married Betty Jean Van Fossen on Oct. 21, 1945, in Burbank.
Mainard graduated from Burbank High School in 1942 and attended California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, Calif. He served in the Army in World War II, including service in Africa and Europe. He was the owner of a plumbing business in Burbank and later worked at Southern Oregon Plywood in Grants Pass. He retired in 1988.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, S. Yvonne Long of Eugene and Katie Timmerman of Springfield; three sons, Matthew of Milwaukie, Bill of Springfield and Jon of Grants Pass; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Arrangements by Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
