Mary Lou Miller
April 6, 1927 - December 27, 2014
Mary Lou Miller (nee Becker) passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and granddaughter on Saturday, December 27, 2014. She was 87 years old.
Mary Lou was born April 6, 1927 in Oakland, PA, the eldest daughter of the late John-Frederick Becker and Anna Sophia Becker. Together with her family, she relocated to California, settling in Burbank in 1943. Mary Lou was a 1945 graduate of Burbank High School. She married the love of her life, Harold Miller in 1949. The couple settled in Burbank for all of their 65 years together, where they also raised their only son, Mark.
Mary Lou was most recently employed by the Burbank Unified School District as a teacher's aide, a position she very much enjoyed. Her interests included crafting, traveling (including to her favorite Sedona, Arizona), rescuing desert tortoises and spending time with her family – most especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Harold, son Mark and daughter-in-law Susan (nee Wilkinson). Mary Lou was also grandmother to Sarah Morphew (Alan), Rachel Miller, Jacqueline Vinci (Michael, Jr.), Megan Miller, and great-grandmother to Dylan Morphew and Michael Vinci III. She leaves behind her sister, Lois Taron, brother-in-law Ralph Miller (Patricia) and sister-in-law Eldora Longshore, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mary Lou was a joy in her family's life and she will be dearly missed.
A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Belmont Village, 455 E. Angeleno Ave., Burbank, CA 91501 in the Town Hall.
In lieu of flowers the family has established a memorial in Mary Lou's name and requests donations be made to St. Paul's First Lutheran School, c/o 5244 Tujunga Ave., North Hollywood, CA 91601.
