From Modesto Bee, Friday, August 9, 1963Sonora - Lee Serkin, 22, of Sonora was killed this morning in a wood operation of the Pickering Lumber Corporation at Camp Curry near Beaver Creek, eight miles east of Camp Connell in Calaveras County.
He was the son of Mrs. Phyllis Limecooley and the brother of Paul Serkin of Sonora. Details of the mishap were not available. Serkin had been employed with Pickering since July 25th.

Sonora - Funeral services for Lee Serkin, 22, of Sonora, who died Friday in a lumber camp accident, will be at 10:30 am tomorrow in the Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Edwards of Twain Harte will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Shadow Cemetery.
