Ruth Ann Talley was born February 25, 1932 to Vernon F. Nuttelman and Blanche Ann Nuttelman (Ross). She spent her early years growing up near Sechlerville, WI. In 1944, when she was 12, she and her family moved to Burbank, CA. She graduated from Burbank High School in 1949 and went on to study first at Glendale City College and later at UCLA where she entered a teacher preparation program.
On June 18, 1955 she married Harry L. Talley Jr. of Glendale. They would remain united for 52 years until the Lord called him home in August of 2007. In 1956 she left UCLA to give birth to her first child, Reece. She would go on to have three more children; Carla (Hentz), Aleece (Schwalenberg) and Paula (Marbach).
RuthAnn was an active member of First Lutheran Church, Burbank. For six decades she volunteered with the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, helped print and deliver devotionals in brail to the blind, assisted the youth league and gave generously of her time and treasure to various ministries within the church. Her faith was a vital part of her life and the driving force behind the love and care she devoted to her children and grandchildren.
In 1977 she went to work part-time for Burbank dentist Dr. Henry B. Hunt. She worked there until she retired in the early 90s. Though the official record will state that she was a homemaker & housewife, her family knows she was so much more. To us, she was our mother.RuthAnn
Talley went home to be with the Lord on Friday January 28, 2011. She is survived by her only sister Pamela Baker of Northridge, CA, 4 children, 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 5 nieces and nephews and untold number of friends and acquaintances. Services will be held on Saturday, February 5 at 3:00 PM at First Lutheran Church, Burbank.
