Ann C. Morra Frescura, BHS 1934

Ann C. Morra Frescura, a lifetime Burbank resident, passed away on October 26, 2012 in Burbank. She was 95.

Ann was born on January 28, 1917, to Antonio and Amelia Morra on the family farm in Burbank, her parents having migrated from Italy. She was predeceased by her husband Bert Frescura, her parents, her five siblings, Louis, Pete and Mike Morra and Madeline Washick and baby Louisa Morra, her grandson Robert Frescura.

She lived her entire life in Burbank having lived in the same home since 1948. She was a long time member and docent with the Burbank Historical Society and was an active member of the Women’s Club of Burbank and the Franciscan Seniors. She loved playing cards and taking trips to the casinos. She was a long time L.A. Dodger and seldom missed watching a game.

She was the best Mom and Grandma, always putting her family first, living by the Golden Rule, always with a smile and always finding the good in everyone. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Forever in our hearts Mom/Gram. We wish her peace and comfort now that she is reunited with her husband and family.

She is survived by her sons Bert (Carolyn) Frescura of Cupertino, Bob Frescura of St. Helena, daughter Barbara Bartman of Burbank, granddaughters Eryn Bartman of Sherman Oaks, Dreah (Greg) Bitter of Mesa, AZ, grandsons Bart Frescura of Alameda and Tony Frescura of Salinas; Jeff, Greg, Niki and families; four great-granddaughters, Talia, Tessa, Tabitha Bitter of Arizona and Erika Frescura of Florida.

Funeral services were held on October 30, 2012 at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills. Interment followed.

Jo Ann Spaulding Kinion, BHS 1952

Petaluma, California


Passed away in San Rafael on January 27, 2013 at the age of 78 years. Devoted wife of Tim Kinion of Petaluma. Loving mother of Kelly Lombardi (Peter) of Santa Rosa, Kathy Kinion of Cotati, and Glen Kinion (Jennifer) of San Rafael.

She grew up in the San Fernando Valley, graduating from Burbank High School in 1952. Shortly thereafter she met Tim, on a blind date. They were married after his army service during the Korean War. They chose to move their family to Petaluma from Los Angeles in 1969. She and her husband were founding members and remained active in the Velo Club Miwok bicycle club since its inception in 1976. Ever since her retirement she enjoyed meeting with former coworkers in a monthly sewing circle. She loved to travel with her husband. Among her favorite places were Carmel, CA and Wengen, a village in the Swiss Alps.

Until her retirement in 1992 Jo Ann was the school secretary at McKinley Elementary School for 18 years and worked at several other Petaluma schools before that.

Jo Ann was not afraid to voice her opinions. Her easy laughter and warmth will be remembered fondly.

Kathleen Anne "Kathi" Wagner, BHS 1968

July 28, 1950 - January 28, 2013

 
Kathi Wagner passed away Monday night, January 28, 2013, from cancer, which she had battled for a long time. She was exactly 62 1/2. Kathi was the oldest of four children in the Wagner Family. Her sister, Karen Wagner, BHS '70, still lives in Burbank. There was also their brother, John Wagner, and a younger sister. They grew in the 900 block of Delaware Road in Burbank. Kathi attended Emerson Elementary, John Muir, and BHS, graduating in 1968.

 
Kathi was very involved in school life while she was at BHS. She was a talented actress, and was the star of many of the plays during her three years in high school. She was the female lead/star in all of the productions during her senior year. She was also a dancer, and was in dance class with Mrs. Carol Gregory Le Blanc, and performed in "Dance Performance '68". She was voted "Most Talented" female, along with Steve Burns as "Most Talented" male, in the 1968 Ceralbus.

December 6, 1949 - January 12, 2013

David James Satel was born on December 6, 1949 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. At a young age, his family moved to Burbank, CA. During his school years, David attended John Muir Jr. High, Burbank High and Pierce Community College. David served in the US Army after high school. David married his soul mate, Sandy in December 1972.

With his love, passion and intellect, David started a vending machine repair business, David’s Vending Sales&Repair, out of the garage of his Burbank home. In 1974, David’s Vending relocated to its current address at 800 S. San Fernando Blvd, Burbank, CA 91502. There, David expanded his operations to include the distribution, repair and restoration of vending machine equipment.

David is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sandy, his two children, David and Lisa, his companions, Petee and Candy, family and friends.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 22 at 1 pm at Pierce Brothers Cemetery in North Hollywood.

Myrtle Tolman Widdison, BHS 1938

Feb. 13, 1920 ~ Dec. 14, 2012 Myrtle Tolman Widdison died December 14, 2012 in American Fork, Utah. Born Feb. 13, 1920 to Howard Milton and Jessie Sessions Ashdown Tolman. She married David Widdison June 17, 1944 in the St. George LDS Temple and they shared 51 wonderful years together. David died Sept. 2, 1995 in North Hollywood, CA.

Myrtle was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was one of the first Golden Gleaners when the Church institiuted that program for young women. She served a mission to the North Central States Mission and enjoyed serving in the church all her life. She served in the Young Women and Relief Society organizations and as an ordinance worker in the Los Angles and Mt. Timpanogos LDS Temples.

She is survived by two daughters and a son: Shirley (Paul) Adolphson, Janice (Jay) White, Gary (Cindy) Widdison, 20 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, a brother Wilford Tolman. She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Funeral services will be Thursday 12/20/12 at 11:00 a.m. in the Pacific Drive 2nd Ward 507 West 700 North American Fork, Utah. Friends may call Wednesday 12/19/12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary 49 East 100 No. Am.Fork and 9:45 to 10: 45 a.m. at the church. Gladys Belle Miller Iggulden, BHS 1942


 
"Gladdy" Iggulden (born Gladys Belle Miller to Ruth and Roy Miller of Burbank) passed away peacefully at the age of 89. A lifelong Burbank resident, she graduated from Burbank High School in 1942.
Gladdy enjoyed many pursuits, but her passion was sewing. At a young age she studied clothing construction and the art of pattern drafting. Well into her 80's she continued to design clothing and perform remarkable alterations.
                                                                                     

Most notable was Gladdy's lovingness and lovability. She touched many hearts and was blessed in return by the love of many.
Gladdy is preceded in death by her husband Ralph, son Jerry, and sister Grace. She is survived by her daughter Mary.
A private memorial was held for Gladdy at the Vintage Retirement Community in Burbank. Graveside services will be held privately on Dec. 26 at Forest Lawn. Donations may be made to: Assisted Home Hospice, 8550 Balboa Blvd. Suite 282, Northridge, CA 91325.
