SHERWIN HACKEL 'HANK' NESEL
Sherwin Hackel "Hank" Nesel, 75, died April 16, 2000, in Bakersfield. Mr. Nesel was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and served four years in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He moved to Burbank in 1953 and taught an automotive repair class at Burbank High School for 25 years. Mr. Nesel was a key figure in the founding of the Burbank Federation of Teachers. With his son, Jon, he opened an automotive repair shop in Burbank in 1976.
He was also a transportation captain for the motion picture industry and was a member of Teamsters Union Local 399.
He is survived by his second wife, Mary Nesel; son, Jon; daughters, Nancy Nesel and Cathy Nesel-Inderbitzen; sisters, Dorothy Rickus and Carol Suttle; step sons, Michael, Sam and James Arnold; five nephews; two nieces; and five step grandchildren.
I had Mr Nesel as a teacher from 1969 to 1972.
