William (Bill) George Emmett, BHS 1933?Salt Lake Tribune, The (UT) - May 15, 1999





Bill returned home to his Heavenly Father on May 12, 1999 in Bountiful, UT. He had just turned 84.


He was born To William Henry and Charlotte Elizabeth Emmett on April 17, 1915 in Taber Alberta, Canada. He attended Taber Elementary and Burbank High School in Southern California. He also graduated from Brigham Young University in Elementary Education with a minor in Political Science.


He served in the Canadian Forces in Canada and England. He married his eternal sweetheart, Gwyneth Mable Jones on July 23, 1949 in the Cardston Alberta Temple. Together they had eight children and raised seven. Dad taught school for 21 years. After retirement, he became self-employed. He had a very strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and loved his savior. He was a very active member of the LDS Church and served in the Salt Lake Temple for 15 years. Dad had a very strong passion for politics, and was always involved in political affairs. He was a very hard worker.


Bill is preceded in death by his parents, and an infant son David Joseph. He is survived by is wife, Gwyneth, of Bountiful, UT; four sons and three daughters, Charlotte Jensen, Mountain View, WY; William George Emmett Jr. (Adriann), Bountiful, UT; John Emmett, Salt Lake; Phyllis Miller (Steve), Salem, UT; Mike Emmett (Linda) Spring Valley, CA; Alice Menlove (Troy), Sandy, UT; Evan Emmett (Jennifer) Midvale, UT; also 28 grandchildren and one great-grandson.


Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 15, 1999 at 2 p.m. at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2020 South 200 West. Friends and family may call on Friday, May 14, 1999, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Colonial Mortuary, 2128 S. State Street.
