CONNERSVILLE – Connie M. Smith, 21, 814 1/2 Lee Street, died Saturday, August 14, 1993 at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio. She had been a patient there two weeks and ill the past few months.

She was born April 1, 1972, in Burbank, California, to Herschel and Janis Keith Miller Smith (BHS 66), and had lived most of her life in California. She attended Connersville High School from 1988-89 and graduated from Burbank (Calif.) High School in 1990. She returned to Connersville two years ago.

Survivors include one daughter, Kelsey Nicole Sheppler of Connersville; her mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. James L. Miller of Stevenson Ranch, California; her father Herschel Smith (BHS 65) of Los Angeles; a stepmother, Yvonne Smith of Connersville; two sisters, Churee and Lauran Amber Smith both of Connersville; two brothers, Wayne Howard Smith of Stevenson Ranch and Herschel Travis Smith of Connersville.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, at Showalter-Blackwell Funeral Home, Myers Chapel. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Erica married John Marlowe Snyder on September 27, 1997 in Clark County, Nevada. Erica passed away on July 9, 2009 in Los Angeles County, California.

She left behind her husband, John and four children, Angelina, Elizabeth, Jonathan, and Alex; siblings, Maureen Gradvohl, Heidi Davenport, Dr Stephanie Artz, Kathleen Kutuzoff, Edward Steckel, Gretchen Smith, David Steckel, and mother Barbara Merlin. No other details at this time. 

Erica is loved and missed by her family and friends and fellow classmates.

Ms. Jennefer Lynn White, age 48, entered into rest on Tuesday, October 13, 2020. There are no public services planned at this time as the family is celebrating her life privately.

Ms. White was born September 22, 1972 in San Fernando, CA a daughter of Paul Alfaro and Shelley Marie Mowrey. She graduated from Burbank High School in 1990. Jennefer then went on to serve in the US Navy before becoming an accomplished business woman. Her accomplishments included owning her own business called Suncoast Sod, bartending and managing bars, working in real estate and home renovation, and over the last three years, trucking. She took pride in her work and strived to improve herself daily. Jennefer enjoyed many aspects of life such as sports including soccer and football, the ocean and living near it, baseball hats as she never owned enough, all things purple, embracing her Irish heritage, and all animals which held a special place in her heart. She cherished the times she spent with her family when she celebrated holidays with them and traveled with the love of her life, Joseph. Most of all she loved her daughters and dedicated her life to them.

Ms. White was preceded in death by her grandmother, Maefer Lynn Alfaro Whiterilyn Mowery.

Survivors include her daughters, Pricilla Jenette Walters, Chassidy Bree White, and Sarina Elle White; grand-daughters, Payton Benson and Riley Delfin; father, Paul Alfaro, mother, Shelley Marie Mowrey, sister, Jamie Paff; and fiance, Joseph Krosche.

Sharise Lynn Wingfield, born September 18 1972 passed January 10 2019. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend. 

She is survived by her husband Rickie Wingfield, her 6 children Geremy Harding, Dalton Harding, Madison Harding, Logan Wingfield, Kourtnye Wingfield, and Austin Wingfield. Six grandchildren. Her mother Sharon, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her aunts Susan and Shelly, her uncle Stan, her grandfather Luis, and her mother in law Di. 

She was a purely kind and compassionate woman whom when times were rough would still give the shirt off her back to help any friends family and even strangers in need. She will be missed and remembered by so many.

Angelica Jasmin Bautista Meeks was born on October 14, 1972 in Mexico and passed away on March 6, 1997 in Los Angeles County, California. She was 21. No other details at this time. She is missed by her classmates. The photo is her junior photo from the 1989 yearbook.

Arrest made in killing of Burbanker
Jason Rodriguez, 26, was buried Thursday. Authorities arrest 23-year-old suspect from Los Angeles.

Hollywood - One day after friends and family buried Jason Rodriguez, Los Angeles police arrested a 23-year-old man Friday on suspicion of stabbing and killing the 26-year-old Burbank resident.

More than 250 people attended the funeral services Thursday morning at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, tearfully saying goodbye to Rodriguez, who died early April 25, 1998, from a stab wound to the chest. Mourners remembered his great smile and positive attitude, and questioned the senselessness of his death, said Rodriguez's older brother, Kevin.

Los Angeles resident Michael Sermeno stabbed Rodriguez at 11:45 p.m. March 24, 1998 in a West Sunset Boulevard parking lot near the Hollywood Palladium, where there was a concert going on, said Detective Michael Gannon of the Hollywood Division of the LAPD. There was a fight inside the concert, but police do not know how many people were involved.

Rodriguez, who died less than two hours after he was knifed, was in the wrong place at the wrong time, his brother said.  "He was just there to be with his friends," Kevin Rodriguez said. "He really shouldn't have even been there."

Jason Rodriguez, a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power maintenance construction helper of nine years, will be remembered as a hard worker, a genuine person and a loving father to 6-year-old Casaundra Alcantar of Tujunga, Kevin said. In his 18 years in Burbank, the fun-loving Rodriguez made many friends. His happiness and honesty touched many lives.

Sermeno was being held without bail at the Los Angeles City Jail in Hollywood. His arraignment date was pending.

JASON RODRIGUEZ

Mr. Jason Rodriguez, 26, died April 25 at a Los Angeles hospital. Mr. Rodriguez was born in California. He was a resident of Burbank for 18 years. He was employed as a maintenance construction helper with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power for nine years.

He is survived by his daughter, Casaundra Alcantar; father, Louis; mother, Karen; and brother, Kevin. Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 30 at Old North Church, Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills. Forest Lawn Mortuary, Hollywood Hills was in charge of the arrangements.

NOTE: I got Jason's name from the old BHS/JBHS memorial page that is no longer available. It had him from Class of 1990, but was unable to find a photo of him in either the 89 or 90 yearbook.

He was working on his dirt bike when he finished it he started it then 1 minute later it caught fire in his garage he was rushed to hospital in there for 2 weeks then on the 12th day his kidneys failed not only that he had 21 ivs in him he got burnt bad I saw him also with it being a untimely death his mom and dad can hear him walking around the ... See More dogs trip out once in awhile and I can still hear his voice at times when I am at my moms in Burbank, also once in a while seems like I can feel his presents around me I know its been 6 years like I said untimely death his sprit still walks the earth for some reason I do not know why......

METH SUSPECTED IN FIRE - HOUSE MAY BE DRUG LAB

One man was found critically injured Monday at the scene of an early morning explosion and fire at a suspected methamphetamine lab on Friendly Valley Parkway in Newhall, officials said. Santa Clarita sheriff's Deputy Mike Tunget responded to the report of a house fire at 6:45 a.m. and found the burned man outside the garage of a house at 19107 Friendly Valley Parkway. Tunget said the victim had been burned over 50 percent of his body, including his hands, legs and back, from his neck down to his heels. Neighbors helped douse the flames and rendered first aid before fire and paramedics arrived at the scene. The injured man was unconscious in critical condition at Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center, officials said.

Residents of the quiet neighborhood were surprised by the activity. Next-door neighbor Mark Weitz initially heard screaming and thought someone was being beaten. ``I heard some serious screaming,'' Weitz said. ``I grabbed an aluminum bat and was ready to stop a beating. When I saw the guy outside, he was burned all over and running around in what was left of his boxers; I dropped the bat and grabbed a garden hose.''

Officials said Cecile Martinez Myron, 32, was taken into custody at the scene on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance. Tunget said she was a friend of the burn victim. Also taken into custody were the owners of the house, Robert and Patricia Pecone , both 52, who were held on suspicion of maintaining a location for the storage or sale of a controlled substance, officials said.

The burn victim was identified only as a white male, 32 years old and a resident of the house. Weitz said he helped wrap the burned man in a damp blanket and used the garden hose to put out materials that had fallen on the roof of a maroon Explorer that was in the garage. Talking to a handful of neighbors gathered in his driveway to watch the investigators work in the afternoon, Weitz said the smoke surrounding the fire was exceptionally acrid and he complained of a sore throat. He also expressed disgust at the possibility of criminal activity next door to his home. ``If this is a meth lab, I want this out of here. We don't want this kind of stuff happening in our neighborhood,'' he said. ``I feel bad for the (Pecones), but it was going on in their house.''

Members of the county Sheriff's Department's arson and explosives, narcotics, hazmat/health and crime lab divisions responded to the scene, cordoning off the area and setting up decontamination pools on the front lawn. Animal control officers removed two pit bull terriers belonging to the Pecones that were being held in Weitz's garage; one of the animals required sedation before it could be put into the truck.

Sgt. Rich Larue of the Santa Clarita sheriff's station explained that the lengthy process of identifying and neutralizing the chemicals found in the garage and other parts of the house could take investigators into this morning. After members of L.A. IMPACT's North Area investigative team were given the all-clear from the hazmat team, they went into the house and brought out extensive chemistry equipment, including scales, bottles, beakers and other laboratory items that were cataloged on the street in front of the house.

NEWHALL - Several ounces of methamphetamine were found Monday in a Newhall residence, the site of an early morning explosion and fire the day before, sheriff's officials said Tuesday. Detectives said they seized the drug and much more. ``A significant amount of equipment, capable of producing several pounds of methamphetamine, was removed from the upstairs bedrooms of the home,'' said Santa Clarita sheriff's narcotics Detective Cary Levinson.

A man found severely burned outside the Friendly Valley Parkway house when sheriff's units arrived remained in critical condition Tuesday at Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center. The 32-year-old man, who was not publicly identified by deputies, lived in the house along with three other suspects.

Arraignment is scheduled today for the homeowners, Robert and Patricia Pecone , on felony charges of maintaining a location for the storage or sale of a controlled substance, and for Cecile Martinez Myron, on felony charges of manufacturing a controlled substance. NOTE: All the charges were dropped by Santa Clarita courts.

Motorcyclist who died in accident identified A motorcyclist who died in an accident Saturday on Bonanza Road east of Decatur Boulevard has been identified as Michael A. Yonan , 33, of Las Vegas. Yonan was driving west on a 2005 Honda motorcycle on Bonanza when he entered eastbound traffic and crashed into a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe at 5:20 p.m., Las Vegas police said.

The Tahoe, driven by 45-year-old Las Vegas woman Marcela Jimenez-Martinez, was making a U-turn at the time of the crash, police said. Police said Yonan was driving at a high rate of speed when he crossed into oncoming traffic to pass the Tahoe.

Michael Anthony Yonan , 33, of Las Vegas, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2006.

He was born Sept. 26, 1972, in Van Nuys, Calif., and resided in Nevada for 10 years. Michael was married to his wife, Debbie for 15 years and was a devoted husband and loving father. He was a valued team member of the Las Vegas Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, where he worked as the facilities director.

Michael was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed working out and playing with his beloved dogs, Sweet Pea, Peanut, Oliver and Zeus.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Luanne Yonan ; brother, Nicholas Yonan ; grandfather, George Andrew Yonan ; and an uncle, Daniel Phillip Yonan . Michael is survived by his wife, Debbie Yonan of Las Vegas; son, Matthew Yonan of Las Vegas; father, Andy Yonan ; stepmother, Linda Yonan , both of California; mother-in-law, Debbie Delman of Las Vegas; brothers, Christopher Yonan and Peter Yonan , both of California, and Nick Delman of Nevada; close friends, Jesse and Rae Anna Ybarra of Nevada; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and other close friends.

Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills Mortuary in Los Angeles. Memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at Las Vegas Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, 7220 South Paradise Road, Las Vegas, NV 89119.
