Harold “Hal” Leroy Schilling, BHS 1957


Harold “Hal” Leroy Schilling died Jan. 14, 2012. He was 72.
Mr. Schilling was born June 12, 1939, in Portland to Harold and Glenola Schilling. He graduated from Burbank High School in 1957 and received a master’s degree in city planning from the University of Southern California.

Mr. Schilling married his wife, Laura, in 1965.

Mr. Schilling served in the U.S. Army with the military police. He worked his way through college and then built a career as a city manager in Milwaukie, Chandler, Ariz., Aspen, Colo., Reno, Nev., Lancaster, Calif., Ontario, Ore., and Indio, Calif. He served as interim city manager in Scappoose, Cornelius and Monmouth. He was a valued consultant to municipal governments.


Mr. Schilling enjoyed home remodeling, racquetball, weight lifting and reading.


Survivors include his children, Alisa Faulk, Lake Oswego, Bryan Schillling, Christopher Schilling and Jonathon Schilling; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A funeral mass has been held. The family asked that remembrances be made by helping others, such as by learning CPR, donating blood or becoming an organ donor.
