Jack E. Schicketanz, BHS 1945

Jack E. Schicketanz, BHS 1945 Former BHS Teacher Received this from Alan Landros and Joyce Starleaf An e-mail came this morning from Jay Schicketanz saying his father, former BHS science teacher, Jack Schicketanz, passed away a week ago, on Saturday, February 1, 2014. For the last few years Mr. Schicketanz had endured progressive decline involving his speech and memory problems. He had been living in an assisted living residence in Newport Beach. His wife passed away several years ago. He was 87, possibly 88 now. Jack Schicketanz taught at John Muir while many of us attended there from 1964 to 1967. In 1968 he moved to BHS and was there our junior and senior years. He taught Life Science and Biology for 25 years at BHS until his retirement in 1993. He was also an alumni of Burbank High School, in the Class of 1945. Mr. Schicketanz was one of the nineteen former BHS teachers who joined us at our 40th class reunion at the Castaway on June 27, 2010. His son, Jay, brought him from Orange County to be with us that evening.
