James W. Wallace, BHS 1943

James W. Wallace
August 13, 1924 - October 1, 2016

We lost our beloved father, grandfather and friend. Though he was small in stature he was truly larger than life. He never met a stranger or forgot a friend. He was there for everyone who needed him and will be remembered for his outgoing and loving ways.

He was born in Dallas, TX but moved to California as a child. He graduated from Burbank High School in 1943 and enlisted in the Navy the following day. His service years were spent in England and Ireland. Upon returning home, he met the love of his life, Patricia Miles and they were married on June 21,1946. Jim had requested that they have 3 daughters, and that is exactly what he got.

He lived a long and happy life and we are all so grateful to have been in his family or one of his friends. He was predeceased by his beloved Patty in 2013. He is survived by daughters Martha (Scott) Nelson, Debbi (Tim) Smith, Mary (Dan) McCarville and grandchildren James (Renee) Smith, Katie (Fernando) Robles and Evan McCarville. His brothers Hank, Robert, David and Michael also survive him in Texas.

Services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016 at 11 a.m. at La Mirada Christian Church, La Mirada and graveside to follow at Olive Lawn Cemetery, La Mirada.

Published in the Los Angeles Times from Oct. 19 to Oct. 20, 2016
