COTTONWOOD – Shirley Carrol Lentz, 80, of Cottonwood passed away on May 11, 2021, following a short illness.
She was born to the late John and Eileen Seppanen, September 6, 1940, in Bemidji, Minnesota. Shirley and her parents moved to California in 1943. Her late brother “Jack”joined their family in 1945. Shirley graduated from Burbank High School in 1958, and went on to pursue her Cosmetology License.
Shirley moved to Cottonwood, California in 1963 where she raised her 2 children. She is survived by her son Wade Lentz (Terri) of Redding, and her daughter, Debbie Baker (Larry) of Cottonwood. She is also survived by her grandsons, Jonathan Lentz (Katie) of Chico, and Taylor Baker (Andrea) of Cottonwood, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Shirley was a long time Bus Driver for the Cottonwood School District. She started in 1973, and retired from the district in 2000. She enjoyed the time with her fellow bus drivers and all of the children that had ridden her buses, throughout the years. She was a proud member of the “Red Hat Tamales”. She loved visiting the North Coast beaches, camping, playing board games, reading books, and celebrating the holidays with family and friends.
There will be a “Celebration of Life” for Shirley on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the Cottonwood Community Center (20595 Gas Point Rd). Please feel free to stop by between the hours of 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., to celebrate her life with family and friends.
