Marjorie Reeser Ballenger, BHS 1965
Went home to our Lord on June 3, 2010. Marj was sixty-three years old, born Feb. 17, 1947, in Los Angeles. Marj battled ovarian cancer for over four years, but finally succumbed to the disease. Over her lifetime Marj was a woman of varied interests; she played college athletics, participated in speedboat ski racing in the ocean, private flying (including two crash landings), desert motorcycle racing and running. Working her way through college as a motorcycle mechanic and tuner.
Marj taught in Los Angeles and in 1978, settled in Rosamond where she started the first Special Education program at Rosamond High School. Marj remained with Rosamond Schools for twenty-four years, administrating and teaching various subjects. Marj was very active in the affairs of Wayside Chapel Community Church; she coordinated expansion of the sound reinforcement efforts from a virtual boom-box on Glendower Ave to a large, sophisticated system in the new church on Felsite Ave.
Marj taught Sunday School, Bible Studies, temporarily administered the Rosamond Christian School, and finally, after her retirement, became the volunteer church bookkeeper, while tutoring teenagers, and still working in the audio-visual ministry.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her father, mother and a sister Barbara of Lancaster; she is survived by her husband of thirty-two years, Lee and sisters Sandra Reeser and Carole Reeser of Burbank, and a brother, John Reeser of Littleton, Colorado.
There will be a celebration of the diverse aspects of this extraordinary Christian woman who loved and touched the lives of hundreds of people. The Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 12, 2010, in the Wayside Chapel Community Church, 2584 Felsites Ave, Rosamond, Calif.
