Diane Virginia Nelson Lange, BHS 1951

Diane Virginia Nelson Lange, BHS 1951

Diane Virginia Lange, 70, of Pine City, Minnesota, died peacefully at Kanabec Hospital in Mora on Tuesday, July 29, 2003. She was born in Hollywood, CA on May 17, 1933, the daughter of Fred and Ruth Nelson. She grew up in Los Angeles, Glendale and Burbank, CA. graduating from Burbank High School in 1951. She then went on to Bible school in Los Angeles for a year.

Diane met Delbert Lange at St. Matthews Church in 1951, when he was stationed with the Air Force at Cal Airo Tech in Glendale. They were married on June 12, 1953 and set up their home in rural Pine City.

Diane was a faithful and precious wife, always concerned for her family. She put them first. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ, whom she accepted as her personal Savior while at Bible camp. It showed in her raising of six children in a simple home.

Diane and Delbert read the Word of God together daily. She was quiet but friendly, a stalwart supporter and encourager to her pastor husband, children and grandchildren. She was always there to share others problems and help with a smile. Among the simple pleasures Diane enjoyed were reading books, working puzzles, watching game shows with her family and collecting refrigerator magnets. She liked to take care of her cats and enjoyed watching the flowers bloom in her gardens.

Visiting with her children and grandchildren was another favorite pursuit. Few visits ended without at least a game or two of Skip-Bo or tiles. Diane also loved to travel and look through all the pictures and videos she and Delbert accumulated during their many trips through the western states and Canada. She was able to celebrate her and Delbert's 50th wedding anniversary with all of her family at the North Shore in June and travel up to the Yukon this month to see her great granddaughter.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ruth Nelson, and her granddaughter, Becky Kappauf. She is survived by her husband, Delbert, Pine City; her sister, Barbara Toshach, Long Beach, CA: six children, Linda Andrews of Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada; Nancy and Scott Nichols, Fredonia, WI; Lisa Kappauf, Hinckley; Steven and Kim Lange, Pine City; Jeanine Macapageal, Coon Rapids; and Larry Lange, Hinckley; 17 grandchildren, Matthew and Elizabeth Freemantle, Darcie Andrews, Reggie Andrews, Nathan, Stacy and Steven Nichols, Michael, James and Alicia Kappauf, Stephanie, Jonathan, Christine, David, Katelyn and Joshua Lange, and Mark and Daniel Macapagel, one great granddaughter, Caroline Freemantle, and many brothers and sisters in Christ.

Funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 1 at the Pine City Evangelical Free Church. Pastor Ken Dalbey officiated. Casketbearers were Mike Kappauf, James Kappauf, Jonathan Lange, Nathan Nichols, Steven Nichols and Scott Nichols.

Burial was at Hustletown Cemetery in rural Pine City.
