Emma Lee Dix Harkink, BHS 1945

A wonderful, caring and loving wife, sister, mother and grandmotherpassed away on July 26, 2004 after battling liver cancer during the past few months.

Emma is survived by her husband, William E. Harkink; her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry R. and Judith of Worland, Wyoming, and Harold "Eddie" and Diane of Chandler, Arizona; two granddaughters, DeAnne of Flagstaff, Arizona and Jaci of Bloomington, Indiana. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Justus; and brother, Paul Dix.

Emma was born February 26, 1927 in Greenwood, Arkansas to George and Reth Dix. The family moved to Burbank, California where she attended school and later married William on May 12, 1945. The young couple moved to Gardens in 1951, where they raised their two boys and remain in the same house today.

Emma loved and was loved by all her neighbors, friends and most of all her family. She derived great joy from the closeness she had with all those around her, and she especially loved her church and the Lord.

Viewing will be Thursday, July 29th at McCormick Mortuary from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at 1016 W. 164th Street in Gardena. Services will be held at her beloved Cross Road Church, 2818 Manhattan Beach Blvd, Gardena, 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 30th, with burial immediately following at the National Cemetery in Riverside, California during a 12:45 p.m. service.

Family and friends are invited to their home for an open house between 4:00- 6:00 p.m. on Friday to celebrate the life of Emma Lee. Emma will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
