NURSE FINDS PARALYZED WOMAN DEAD IN BATH

A 36-year-old Burbank woman, left paralyzed on one side of her body by an operation for a brain tumor about 15 years ago, drowned Monday, October 10, 1983, while taking a therapeutic bath at her home, police said.

The woman, identified as Nan D. Gold, was found unconscious by a day nurse who returned to the house in the 700 block of Uclan Drive shortly after 1 p.m. according to Sgt. Harry Griffin.

Griffin said the nurse, unsuccessful in her attempt to revive Gold through mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, notified paramedics who in turn called the police.

Bill Gold, a deputy medical examiner for the Los Angeles County Coroner's office, said an autopsy on Tuesday revealed Gold drowned possibly as the result of a seizure. Further tests will be conducted on the body, he added.
