Emma Westgate Howell, BHS 1933

The graveside service for Emma Howell will be held today, Tuesday, at 3:00 pm at Memory Gardens Memorial Park with Pastor John Vondoloski of Liberty Baptist Church in White City, officiating.


Mrs. Howell, 90, of Medford, died Saturday, June 3, 2006. She was born May 3, 1916 in Monroe, Mich. to Milo and Asenath Westgate. On Oct. 16, 1938 in Brazil, Ind., she married Hillary A. Howell, who preceded her in death in 2005.


She graduated from Burbank High School, class of 1933, in Calif. and later from Cox Commercial College in Tucson, Ariz. In 1940 her husband entered the ministry and the undertaking became a big part of her life. She was active in various departments of church life. After her husband retired, they relocated to the Rogue Valley in 1978. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, where she had been very active.

Survivors include: three sons, Paul L. Howell, Medford; Hillary A. Howell Jr. and David M. Howell, both of Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Three sisters, Gladys Greer, Celestine Adkins and Genevieve Awtrey, precede her in death.
