Roy Allen Swenson, 69, our loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away March 30, 1993 of a heart attack.


Born August 14, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Sten Hugo Swenson Sr. and Signe Albertina Jonsson. Married his high school sweetheart Ruth Roberta Warburton, April 9, 1945 in Burbank, California; later solemnized in the Salt Temple, April 9, 1975. Roy was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served in many positions. His greatest joy was his wife and family. His extreme generosity was felt by many and he will be greatly missed by all.


Roy served in World War II Company L, 331st Infantry and received the Purple Heart, European African Middle Eastern Theater, Combat Infantry badge, One Battle Star, and a Sharp Shooter medal.

Severe Rheumatoid Arthritis for 48 years caused his retirement from the U.S. Postal Service. He is free from pain at last.

Survived by wife, Roberta; daughter, Linda Lea Dunn (Rod), son, Ronald Ray Swenson (Mary); six grandsons, Jeff and Jason Dunn, Robert, Matthew, Steven and Michael Swenson; one granddaughter Lennie Marie Swenson, all of Salt Lake City; two brothers, Sten Jr., and Lon; one sister, Lola McCrossen, all of California. Preceded in death by parents; twin brother, Ray (killed in action in World War II) brothers, Erik and Stanley; sisters, Martha and Margaret.


Funeral services will be held Friday, April 2, 1993, 1 p.m. at the Mt. Olympus 6th Ward, 4407 So. Fortuna Way (3650 East). Friends may call at Mackay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 So. Highland Dr. on Thursday eve. from 7-8:30 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 11:45-12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment: Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 East 7800 So. with military honors.
