Thomas W. Lockett, BHS 1941

Thomas W. Lockett, BHS 1940

Thomas a Burbank, California native was born on August 4, 1923 to Ruby and Thomas Lockett and passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at his home of 48 years at Fox Island, Washington.

Tom made life long friends at Burbank High and played doubles with Eddie McGee on the varsity tennis team. He was also an Eagle Scout.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps after briefly working for Lockheed Aircraft. While training in Seattle he met Elizabeth Ann Barta. Their wartime wedding  was followed by 71 years of marriage, two daughters, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

After his military service on Saipan, the young couple moved to Burbank where Tom began a successful sales career at Air Parts, then co-founded Pacific Sky Supply. In 1961 the family moved to Washington, where he became president of an export firm, then founded a hardware supply company.

Tom had many interests and actively contributed to his community. Most of all , he enjoyed people; he was sincerely interested in what they had to say and related equally well across all generations and walks of life. He began each day with his bible, and ended it in prayer.

His memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday Nov. 29 at The Fox Island Chapel at Echo Bay. Please consider the Tacoma Rescue Mission which he faithfully supported for many years in lieu of flowers.
