Motorcyclist who died in accident identified A motorcyclist who died in an accident Saturday on Bonanza Road east of Decatur Boulevard has been identified as Michael A. Yonan , 33, of Las Vegas. Yonan was driving west on a 2005 Honda motorcycle on Bonanza when he entered eastbound traffic and crashed into a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe at 5:20 p.m., Las Vegas police said.

The Tahoe, driven by 45-year-old Las Vegas woman Marcela Jimenez-Martinez, was making a U-turn at the time of the crash, police said. Police said Yonan was driving at a high rate of speed when he crossed into oncoming traffic to pass the Tahoe.

Michael Anthony Yonan , 33, of Las Vegas, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2006.

He was born Sept. 26, 1972, in Van Nuys, Calif., and resided in Nevada for 10 years. Michael was married to his wife, Debbie for 15 years and was a devoted husband and loving father. He was a valued team member of the Las Vegas Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, where he worked as the facilities director.

Michael was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed working out and playing with his beloved dogs, Sweet Pea, Peanut, Oliver and Zeus.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Luanne Yonan ; brother, Nicholas Yonan ; grandfather, George Andrew Yonan ; and an uncle, Daniel Phillip Yonan . Michael is survived by his wife, Debbie Yonan of Las Vegas; son, Matthew Yonan of Las Vegas; father, Andy Yonan ; stepmother, Linda Yonan , both of California; mother-in-law, Debbie Delman of Las Vegas; brothers, Christopher Yonan and Peter Yonan , both of California, and Nick Delman of Nevada; close friends, Jesse and Rae Anna Ybarra of Nevada; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and other close friends.

Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills Mortuary in Los Angeles. Memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at Las Vegas Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, 7220 South Paradise Road, Las Vegas, NV 89119.

ROBERT F. MAGEE A long time resident of Van Nuys passed away September 6, 2007, at the age of 89. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary; his three children, Judy (Steve), Tim (Julie) and J ohn (Rebeca); and six grandchildren, Justin, Jessica, Abigail, Ryan, Daniel and Sarah.

Robert graduated from Burbank High School, served in the military in WWII, earning a bronze star. He worked for Bank of America for 41 years. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed crossword puzzles and a good martini, loved to travel, but most of all he cherished his family. He will be deeply missed by all.

Services were held at St. Genevieves Catholic Church where he was an active member. Thanks to Palliative Care for their care during these last months. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Cystic Fibrosis Fund or Cure Autism Now.

Robert Bruce Hotchkiss 56 of Panguitch, Utah died May 1 2002 in Salt Lake City Utah.

Robert was born Dec. 31 1945 in Glendale Calif. to Willard Burton and Helen Adena Schuld Hotchkiss. He married Norma Sanchez who preceded Robert in death. He married Linda Tuttle and they later divorced. On Oct. 23 1993 he married Lynn Ramsey in Santa Barbara.

Robert began working at the age of 10 delivering newspapers. He graduated from Burbank High School in 1963. He was a district manager with the Herald Examiner for many years. His son Christopher was born in 1980 and had since brought great joy to Robert's life. He was a manager with Ralphs grocery for 25 years.

Robert and Lynn moved to the Panguitch area and built a home overlooking the beautiful red rocks of Red Canyon fulfilling a longtime dream of living in Utah. He loved exploring the beauty of the local area gardening fishing and just being outdoors. He was a member of the Panguitch Lions Club the Roller Mill Hill Gunslingers Club a lifetime member of the NRA and a longtime member of the Crescenta Valley Gun Club.

Robert was a friend to all and enjoyed making new friends. Despite his health he always looked for ways to help everyone at every opportunity. He will be greatly missed especially by his wife Lynn who has enjoyed the most wonderful loving nine and one-half years of marriage.

He is survived by his wife Lynn of Panguitch Utah; son Christopher Robert of Newbury Park; mother Helen A. of Sylmar Calif.; brother Rollin (wife Deana) of Pullman Wash.; sister Suzy (husband Rick) Burroughs of Sylmar Calif.; and 10 nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Bob very much. He was preceded in death by his father Burt and former wife Norma.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday May 4 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Third Ward chapel 150 North 400 East in Panguitch Utah. Friends may call at the church in Panguitch Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30. Burial will be at the Panguitch Cemetery. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Roller Mill Hill Gunslingers Club in care of Rick Oldham president Panguitch UT 84759.

Thomas Jeffrey Ross passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday. Though he endured a long struggle with an addiction to pain-killers prescribed after various surgeries, he had recently been revitalized with a dedication to overcome this all consuming struggle. The night before his death, he was enthusiastic about his desire to do right, but it was too late for his body which naturally gave way to the abuse of so many years. Jeff had love which he gave to many, but often found it difficult to love himself. With our whole hearts, we believe he is finally at rest and has found the lasting peace and happiness that eluded him for so long.

Jeff was an accomplished swimmer in his youth earning four All-American Awards, and an excellent all-around athlete. He enjoyed much success in his professional life including obtaining his masters degree in Psychology from the University of Utah. He was very charismatic and easily liked by those who met and knew him. Jeff had a fondness for Hawaii and a deep love of the ocean. He made his home here in Utah after growing up in Burbank, CA due to his love of skiing. Jeff loved his family. He was deeply loved and will be missed by his wife, six children, and extended family.

He is survived by his eternal companion, Annette (Teeples); children, Charity (Dean), Kristan (John), Candice, Rachel, Becky, and Tim; grandchildren, Brighton and Boston; father, Mark Bell Ross ; preceded in death by his mother, Leah Rae Ross . His siblings, Karen (Mark), Janice, Marianne (Dave), Tim (Marie); along with many nephews, nieces, and friends.

A viewing will be held Friday, Oct. 19 2007 from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 20 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Crescent 15th Ward chapel (10975 Prescott Drive, Sandy, UT) with a viewing at 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment will take place at the Elsinore City Cemetery following the service. A founder of Goleta's BEI, Industrial Encoder Division, battled cancer for seven years
Jerry E. Jandt, born in Burbank on September 7, 1938, died quietly at his Santa Barbara home on November 5, 2009, after a seven-year battle with colon cancer. He was 71. He had his family around him as he passed.

Jerry attended Burbank High and served in the Air force in Japan, where he was also a member of the Triumph Motorcycle Club of Japan. He married his wife of 32 years, Ann Derk, originally of Iron Mountain, Mich., in 1977. He was sales manager and operations manager of Renco Encoders in the early 1970s. Jerry was a founder of BEI, Industrial Encoder Division in Goleta and served as its original vice president and general manager. He spent 18 years building the division into a very successful enterprise and retired in 1995.

Jerry had diverse interests and loved to keep busy. He was a pilot, and a ham radio operator (KD6YPB) who was often on the air. He was an avid photographer, RVer, boater, diver and fisherman, with boats Refugio and Knot-Yet in the Santa Barbara Harbor and the Thunderbird at his Palapa in Tripui, Loreto, Mexico, where he loved to spend weeks at a time.

Very computer savvy, he posted information and pictures on his blog and was very open and courageous communicating about his battle with cancer, posting his progress at regular intervals. He was also very supportive of his wife’s antique business. He spent much time traveling with his wife in a specially designed RV, hunting for treasures around the country. Jerry was an amazingly strong-spirited individual, who remained extremely active even as his disease progressed, never giving in to depression or self-pity and always finding ways to remain engaged.

He leaves behind a loving wife Ann (Betsy), brother Harry T. "Tom" Jandt of Indio, daughter Jennifer Jandt-Holzer and son-in-law Jeff Holzer of Goleta, son Eric Jandt and Photini (Tina) Varkonyi of Berwyn, Ill., step-son Dirk Dole and wife Samantha of Atascadero, and five grandchildren: Jake, Matt, Selena, Grayson and Douglas and loving sidekick Annie, his golden retriever. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marge Jandt of Burbank, who passed away in 2006.

The family would like to extend thanks to Natalia Bliss, caregiver for the last three months of his battle and Hospice of Santa Barbara, which helped to make the last few days more comfortable and enabled Jerry to spend that time at home with family.

In lieu of flowers it is the family’s wish that anyone wanting to remember Jerry take a friend or a loved one out to dinner and celebrate the value of relationships. On Sunday, May 3, 2009 our beloved mother, grand mother, wife, and sister, Barbara Fife Settle , passed away. She was 81 years of age. She is to be remembered for her humor, quick wit, sharp intellect, writing and story telling. She was the life of any gathering. She was gregarious and highly intuitive and had a flair for drama, but was also reflective with a tender heart filled with great compassion and empathy. She was our center and truly the light of our lives and heart of our hearts.

Barbara was born in White Hall, Michigan on September 23, 1927. The third daughter of her parents, she and her family moved to California in 1941. She attended Burbank High School and Pasadena Junior College. She met her husband, Henry, on a double date with her sister. He was in naval flight training and according to Barbara was the "handsomest thing on two legs".

Barbara and Henry have resided in Ventura since 1956. In addition to raising her children and running a home, "Moe", as we affectionately called her, also volunteered for the Ventura Police Department, returned to College, won awards for creative writing and poetry, and was an authority on the Civil War and English history. She later worked as a book-keeper, secretary, and auto-parts salesperson for her son-in-law. She also partly raised her grand daughter Cassandra, "her life", whom she adored.

Barbara vigilantly and tirelessly cared for and watched over her son William. William preceded her in death at age 42 in 1995. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Henry Settle , daughter, Nancy Settle Vaniotis, grand daughter Cassandra Vaniotis, sisters, Peggy Fife and Joan Udell, nephews Richard Fife, Paul Harris and Elliot Harris, and all her Greek family including, Bill, Rich, Diana Vaniotis and Eva Vaniotis Tordoff.

A memorial for immediate family and friends is being planned. In lieu of flowers please make donations to The Humane Society of Ventura County or your preferred animal welfare organization.

Sherry Anne Entz died Wednesday, January 7, 2009. She was 44 years old when she passed. A lifetime resident of Burbank, California, Sherry died at UCLA Medical Center in the city of Santa Monica. Her cause of death was due to a short battle with Ovarian Cancer.

Sherry was born on September 24, 1964 in Burbank, California to Frank and Martha Valle. She was a 1983 graduate of Burbank High School and had a career in the Fiber Optic industry for over 13 years. She was married to Harold Hyatt Entz, Jr. on October 11, 1997. Together they were raising their three young children, Emily age 8, Hyatt age 7 and Ryan age 4, until she suddenly became ill.

Sherry was a devoted mother and wife; she loved her family and was a good Christian woman who was well known for her loving and generous heart and strong moral character.Sherry Entz is survived by her husband and friend Hank Entz, her children, Emily, Hyatt and Ryan. Also her parents Frank and Martha Valle, her siblings, Judy Ware, Richard Valle, Steven Valle and her mother and father-in-law, Harold and Esther Entz of Glendale.

The services were held at Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church in Glendale, California on January 13, 2009 and were officiated by Reverend Mark A. Weitzel. Her interment was at Forrest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills.

Melissa Beth Levitin, In Loving Memory....December 31, 1976 - January 27, 2008. On January 27th, 2008 the Beacon of light that was Lissa was prematurely extinguished. Left in the wake of such loss are her parents, Debra Hale, Mitch and Gayle Plessner, her brother Ari Plessner, and her sister Kat Plessner.

You might not have known that Melissa earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. You might also not realize the perseverance with which she pursued this degree, graduating college at the age of 30; anyone who has gone back to college later in life will tell you that it's not an easy task. Through many trials and setbacks Melissa achieved part of her life's goal. She would have begun her masters program in 2009.

A fiercely independent woman, never wishing to impose on anyone, and never hesitating to help those who asked. All who knew her will tell you that the loss of this shining light is no less than tragic. She is loved and missed by all who knew her.

She was type 1 diabetic and passed away from Addison's disease. Melissa was a 1994 graduate of Burbank High School, Burbank, California

Jack Chapman was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada on Nov. 22, 1912 but lived most of his 94 years in Absarokee and Billings. He passed away early Saturday morning, March 17, 2007, nested in love with his family and loved ones.

Jack spent his early years in southern California and graduated from Burbank High School in 1930 where he excelled in sports, academics and making friends. Although he didn't formally pursue his academic talents or athletic ability, he certainly enrolled in the art of making of friends, gaining the respect and trust of those who knew him.

Shortly after graduating from high school, Jack, his mother Georgiana, and other siblings moved from California to the Big Sky Country of Montana. He fell in love with the country and with the beautiful Elsie Kinsfather. He and Elsie were married in 1938, in the meantime his family moved back to California. Jack and Elsie's children, Gordon "Skip," John "Brad," and Candace "Candy" were all born in Billings. Gordon and Candace now live in Spokane, Wash., and Brad lives in Omaha, Neb. They all consider Billings and Montana "home."

Jack worked a variety of jobs during his lifetime; ticket clerk with the Northern Pacific Railroad; Safeway; manager of dude ranches; and real estate broker. Dad was a "cowboy" at heart and all things out of doors. This led him to the guest ranching and ranching business, managing the Pitchfork Guest ranch in Meeteetse, Wyo., and later the 4k Guest ranch in Dean, Mont. He later earned his living as a real estate broker.

Jack's real estate firm, the Chapman Ranch Exchange, dealt exclusively in ranch properties throughout Montana. He quickly earned the respect and trust of the clients he served. After approximately 30 years in this endeavor, he accepted a position as financial manager for the Harris' extensive ranch holdings in Pryor/Crow Agency. At age 90, Dad decided to "retire" and moved to Westpark Village in Billings where he continued his career of making friends.Throughout his life, Jack was an active member of numerous service organizations, including the Elks, Masons and Lions and hospital volunteer groups.

Upon moving to Westpark Village in 2003, he and Janet Garner took on the task of creating a rose garden on the Village grounds. It was truly a labor of love in all respects. They nurtured the garden for almost three years and it continues to provide a colorful respite for the residents of the Village. A memorial fund is being established in their name to support the continued existence of the garden.Jack was a caring and fun-loving man for whom family meant everything and friends were special. All who knew him will remember his great sense of humor and endless story telling and will miss him immensely.

Jack is survived by his three children; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Kathleen, Kyle, Erika, and Lara; and five great-grandchildren, Kristina, Kim, Pruedence, John Henry, and Brandon; his sister, Bea and brothers, Bob and Charles; and numerous nieces and nephews. In special recognition, Jack would like to acknowledge and wish the very best to his many special friends and fellow residents of Westpark Village.

Viewing and visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 19, at the Dahl Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, at the Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to acknowledge the compassion, care and loving support he received from the fantastic staff of Westpark Village and the Big Sky hospice. Our prayers and love go out to his best friend, Janet Garton, who made the last three years of his life special and filled with love.In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest a contribution to the rose garden memorial at Westpark Village. SUSAN MAUREEN (ATZEI) BONANI

Susan met her Savior and Lord on September 25, 2009, at the age of 65. She died unexpectedly in Hemet, California. Susan was born in Rochester, New York, and her family later moved to Burbank, California. She married John Bonani in 1968 and had one daughter.

Susan had a heart for God and was a faithful follower of Christ. She was a proud graduate of Burbank High School, Pierce C.C. and Cal State Northridge. She loved travel, the outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. She loved her work as a teacher.

Susan is survived by daughter, Sandy (Max) Garcia; granddaughters, Gianna, Sophia, and Anabella of Aurora, Colorado; brothers, Doug and Tim Atzei; and step-father, Bob Christensen.
The Memorial service was private at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo.
