Los Angeles Times, June 29, 1954

Will Henry Hoist late of 1050 East Walnut Avenue, Burbank, beloved husband of Teresa B. Hoist, father of Mrs. Thelma Olson of Burbank and Mrs. Muriel Newcomb of Shafter, California, brother of John Hoist of Glendale, also survived by three grandchildren.

Services Wednesday, June 30, 1:30 p.m. at Magnolia Park Community Methodist Church, 2828 West Magnolia, Burbank. I.G. Scovern and Son, 828 South Brand Boulevard, Glendale, directors.

Note: The derivation of the term "Ceralbus" is attributed to Will Hoist, Class of 1911. He combined the Latin word "cerulean," meaning blue, with the Latin word "Albus," meaning white and created a new word, "Ceralbus," cleverly denoting the school's colors. The school's mascot has also been attributed to Hoist, who kept a pet bulldog at home.
