Gary Richard Macomber, BHS 1948Gary Richard Macomber passed away on August 23, 2007, returning to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father.
He was born on June 11, 1930 in Taft, California to Ralph and Evelyn Macomber. He met the love of his life, June Young, while attending tenth grade at Burbank High School. After graduation, he married June. From this union came Gary Richard Macomber, Jr., Dennis Allen Macomber, who only lived two days, and Martin Lee Macomber.
He was the proud grandfather of Todd Macomber, Glenna Verdugo, Russell Macomber, and Lindsay Law, and his great grandchildren, Tatiana Verdugo, Gracie Verdugo, Manny Verdugo, and Ana Macomber. Gary had a special love for his aunt, Virginia, and his daughters-in-law, Linda and Sandy.
Gary was a machinist by trade, eventually he decided to go to college. He graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College and from San Francisco State College. He taught school at Ukiah High School in the Industrial Arts program from 1969 until he retired in 1988.
Gary and his wife, June, traveled on their motorcycle each summer when he became a teacher. They traveled from Northern California all the way to Panama Canal, have been in every State in the United States, and every province in Canada. They rode to Vancouver and put their motorcycle on a plane, landed in London and rode through the Alps and many countries.
Gary and June joined the Church of Jesus Christ in 1955, thanks to a dear friend, Allen Coryell and his wife Gayl
e. Gary held many positions in the church, but loved the mission he and his wife served together in the Fiji Islands. He was Physical Facilities Director for the two church schools in Fiji; his wife worked along his side.The family would like to thank Dr. John Mitchell and Doug Huff for their kindness and help.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Salem South Valley View Ward Chapel, 25 W. Apple Blossom Way, Salem, Utah. A viewing will be held in Gary's honor at Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork on Sunday evening, August 26, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Monday morning at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Salem City Cemetery.
