Linda Sue Martino Van Wagner, BHS 1971

Linda Sue Martino Van Wagner, BHS 1971

From Linda Martino's step son advising us of her death.  Here is what he wrote and posted on his Facebook page in July:

Yesterday, just after 4 p.m., we lost our incredible Stepmom Linda Van Wagner. Linda came in to our lives when Alex and I were very young. She gave us an incredible extended family, the Martinos, Hunters and Macheskis, our Brother Brian Van Wagner and from the very beginning, countless fond memories, delicious meals, thoughtful gifts, a lot of laughs, wonderful experiences, lessons in life and so much more.

Linda always encouraged get-togethers, Sunday dinners and yearly family trips. She was a hard worker, a very hard worker and provided a wonderful life for us all. She was glamorous, she had perfect skin and wore beautiful jewelry. She dressed impeccably, was well traveled and drove cool cars. She had life long friends who adored her. She was awesome.

Linda battled breast cancer in the 90's and beat it. About 6 years ago, she developed a brain tumor, and fought it and beat it. However, earlier this year, it came back and her health declined. She moved in to Alex and Jenna's guest house in March and she spent her last months surrounded by her boys, grandchildren, her sisters, family, friends and wonderful nurses. She was a warrior to the very end.

Linda's journey ended at 66 years old, far too young, but she did so much. She got to meet and love all of her Grandchildren and dance will all of us boys at our weddings. Although some of the kids won't get to know her as we did, the memories and stories will live on and Linda Sue will always be with us.

Judith Kay Dussault Mittelman, BHS 1959

Judith Kay Dussault Mittelman, BHS 1959

Judy Mittelman passed away on December 24, 2019 of heart failure at the age of 78.

Judy was born in Glendale and moved several times before the family bought a house and settled in Burbank. She attended William McKinley Elementary School, and then went on to John Muir Junior High School. Her high school years were spent at Burbank High where she developed several life-long friends. While there she enjoyed being a member of the drill team .

After graduation, Judy worked at Lockheed, NBC, and Warner Brothers Studios where she became an extra. Absolutely understandable since she was a beautiful, vivacious young lady! She also went on to serve as a stewardess for United Airlines.

She met the love of her life, Joe Mittelman, in 1965 on a date set up by her sister. They were a close-knit, devoted couple who thoroughly enjoyed each other’s company, traveling and spending time with their family. She had 3 stepsons and one step daughter, three granddaughters and two great-grandchildren. She loved and savored time with the grandchildren and was a doting great-grandmother.

Joe passed away a year ago, and Judy missed him greatly. She loved being with people, doing crossword puzzles and telling stories about her experiences when she was young. She was a great story teller, but perhaps is best remembered for her wonderful sense of humor. Often she was told, “You should write a book!”

She will be missed.

Her mother Virginia Dussault also attended Burbank High
