Linda Alvarado, she was a loving mother, daughter and sister, she passed away on Tuesday, July 19th, 2022 at the age of 53.

Linda was born on December 5th, 1968 in Glendale, California to Joe and Esther Espinoza. She lived her whole life in Burbank, she attended Providencia Elementary School, Luther Middle School and Burbank High School. After graduating from Burbank High she became a proud mother and started her family.

Linda was a very bubbly, shy, caring, and strong person. She was always smiling, laughing, and making jokes. She loved animals and loved having pets. Throughout her childhood, she had a siamese cat named Sugar, a chihuahua named Bambi, and a white bunny. She loved animals so much, she would even volunteer at the Burbank animal shelter as a high schooler. All her life she enjoyed rollerskating, in skating rinks or going up and down the streets. One time, as a child she broke her arm while rollerskating but continued skating as if nothing happened. She was a very passionate follower and believer in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Linda attended church with her kids every sunday, taking them to church every chance she got. She loved taking care of people and animals, from her children, to family member's children, to the homeless on skid row.

A funeral service for Linda will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Pierce Brothers Valhalla, 10621 Victory Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91606. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Media City Church, 269 E Providencia, Burbank, CA 91502. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM, 10621 Victory Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91606.

"Joe" Gonzales, 45

Former Burbank resident Joseph Luis "Joe" Gonzales, 45, died Nov. 11, 2013, at Amberwood Nursing home, Highland Park.

Joe was born Oct. 10, 1968, in Glendale, California, to Joseph Luis Gonzales Sr. and Annabelle Snow Gonzales.

He graduated from Burbank High School and continued to reside in the Burbank area.

Joe was a Native American of the Three Affiliated Tribes (Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara nation)

Joe was known for his speed in running and his talent in Art.

His family wrote: "Joe lived his life with integrity and bravery."

He is survived by his sons, Jimmy Alexander Gonzales & Joseph Luis Gonzales; daughters, Annabelle Gonzales & Melissa Gonzales, ; granddaughter, Abigail Gonzales; father, Joseph Gonzales., step mother Soledad Montejano, sisters, Gloria Aguayo, Elizabeth Gonzales, Joann Mejia and Lillian Gonzales.

Joe was preceded in death by his Mother, Annabelle Snow Gonzales; and his brother, Joseph Gonzales.

Vickie C. Rybak, 42, a resident of Zephyr Cove, passed away October 24, 2011. Vickie was born November 10, 1968 to George and Donna Rybak in Glendale, California. Vickie was the previous owner of Round Hill Video in Zephyr Cove and also went to school for and became a Certified Cosmetologist. Vickie was educated in hotel and restaurant management and worked for several years in supervisory positions for Woodland Hills Hilton in California. She loved the Tahoe area and always looked forward to the first snowfall, she was an excellent skier and enjoyed fishing with her father. Vickie was proud to be an American from Czech background in Prague. Vickie loved serious classic music by Dvorak’s “A New Symphony” and Smetana’s “My Country.”

Long Beach resident Michael Patrick Keeley II, 28, died at Ocean Beach Hospital on October 18, 1997. The cause of death has not yet been determined.

He was born September 7, 1969, in Lynwood, California and received his education in Burbank, California, where he graduated from Burbank High School in 1987. He participated in youth football and baseball programs during his school years, He was also avidly interested in music and art.

While visiting the Long Beach Peninsula, he decided to make it his permanent home and moved to Long Beach in 1993. He was self-employed as a painter and had hopes of becoming a youth minister. He enjoyed music and loved to play his guitar. He did wood carvings and could draw “anything and everything,” according to his family.

In 1995 he married Nicole Evans, and they made their home in Long Beach. She survives him at home, along with a daughter, Jessica, and a son, Keenan. Also surviving are his parents, Suzanne King of Hemet, California, and Michael Sr. and Cyndy Keeley of Burbank, California; a brother, Robert Keeley of Everett, Washington; two uncles and many friends.

The graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Lone Fir Cemetery in Long Beach with the Rev. Larry Bennett officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Keeley Children Trust Fund at Twin Harbors Credit Union, 705 S. Pacific Ave., Long Beach, WA, 98631. Arrangements are by Penttila’s Chapel by the Sea, Long Beach.

TINA LYNN BASS, AGE 54, OF BURBANK, CALIFORNIA PASSED AWAY ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 2, 2024.

Tina was the daughter of Dan Gonzalez and Judi Gascoigne. She was raised in Burbank and attended Burbank schools, graduating from Burbank High School in 1987. She attended CSULB and earned her teaching degree.

Growing up, Tina played softball and basketball through the Parks department, being coached by her father, Dan. She also played basketball at BHS. She was also a member of National Charity League. Tina taught 6th grade at John Muir Middle School and was a technician and facilitator at Cri Help. Tina married Mike Bass in 2005 but sadly she became a widow in 2017. She never recovered from the loss.

She is survived by her mother, Judi Gascoigne, and her sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Les Cohen.

Tina was preceded in death by her husband Mike, father Dan Gonzalez, stepfather Jim Gascoigne, and her four beloved grandparents.

Our hearts are broken, but her faith was very strong. We believe she is now at peace with God. Tina had a kind and compassionate heart, and she was always happiest helping others.

Teen Injured In Crash

 

A Ventura teen-ager was in critical condition this morning in a hospital's intensive care unit after she was thrown from her speeding car on the Ventura Freeway Friday night, authorities said.  Wende Hart, 18, suffered multiple skull fractures after the 8:50 p.m. accident, California Highway Patrol Officier Jim Utter said.

According to witnesses, Hart's car was apparently racing another vehicle about 75 mph when it came upon heavy traffic near the Los Angeles County line at Westlake Village, Utter said. The southbound car, was traveling in the third lane, swerved to the left and into the first lane where its left wheels hit the center divider, he said.

The car went out of control and veered to the right shoulder, struck a raised berm, went over the side and struck the side and struck a tree. Hart was ejected. Utter said Hart was not wearing a seat belt.

Ventura Driver, 18, Hurt In Race Dies

A Ventura woman seriously injured in a freeway accident last week died Monday night in Westlake Community Hospital. Wende Hart, 18, died at 9:45 p.m. in the intensive-care unit, a hospital spokeswoman confirmed.

Hart suffered major head injuries Saturday night when she wrecked while racing another car southbound on the Ventura Freeway near the Los Angeles County line, the California Highway Patrol reported.

When she swerved across all three lanes to her left, she lost control, swerved back to the right and skidded off the freeway, the CHP reported. The CHP said Hart was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown through the right side of the car, hitting her head on part of the car and a tree.

Kristi Herrera was born on September 8, 1969 and passed away on January 19, 2022 in a Los Angeles Motel/Hotel. According to the Los Angeles Medical Examiner her cause of death was deferred pending additional Investigation. She was just 52 years old.

Kristi's father was former Burbank High Principal William Bertrand he passed away in 2015. She is survived by her husband Rene Herrera, children and siblings. No other details at this time.

May she rest in peace. She will be missed by all who knew her.

10:45 January 19 2022 was the day the Earth stood still, galaxies collided and God lost control and screwed up.

 

My wife, soulmate, best friend, High School sweetheart took her last dying breath in my arms and was ripped in an untimely fashion from this Earth. 

 

I have seen countless dying people in my line of work and even held a dying best friend in my arms but nothing could prepare me for this. 

 

I want to thank everyone for reaching out to me and our family with your kind and heartfelt words, it is evident that Kristi had made an impact on you. 

 

Kristi always said if it was the last thing she did she was going to get this Family together and close… And she did! 

 

Our immediate family, our in-laws, cousins, uncles, aunts have been together ever since her untimely passing. 

 

We’re it not for all the love, thoughts, encouraging words, thoughts and prayers I would have be very happy and tempted to chase after her even if it meant going through Hell first. 

 

Kristi Kathleen was an inspiration to the world and was a magical Bright Candle that lite the way for everyone. She was always there to help anyone or anything in need. She was selfless and truly put everyone before herself. Her love and desire for life was always visible by her beautiful smile. She was never judgmental no matter what race, religion, ethnicity, political view. She was always the mediator and would never take sides but would listen to everyone and offer a solution. Her motto was always to find the good in people rather than focus on the bad. We have been through Hell and Highwater and back and lived, loved and laughed til her very last breath. 

 

She took a little street punk and turned him to a mushy loving Old Grandpa she never gave up on me and always strived to make me a better person. Even in my darkest hours she was a beacon of light for me to follow. All of the lame brain ideas and hobbies she always supported liking it or not. I’ve had an incredible journey with her and I cherish every moment. Our time was cut way too short and has left me and countless of others a huge void and broken Heart that can never be repaired or filled. 

 

They say God has a plan well I think I need to have a discussion with him cause not only did he make a catastrophic mistake but he broke the mold with her. 

 

She has left some enormous shoes for our family to fill and there will never be another woman like her! 

I love you Kristi Kathleen with all my 💔and soul and cannot wait too see you again. I will talk to you, love and cherish you til the day I die. Which in it of itself will seem like Hell. But you’ve given me such a large family and taught me how to love so deeply that I promise to take the reigns taking care of our family and carry on your dreams and wishes of keeping everyone United.

I know you are up there with Mr. Bertrand and will be keeping an eye on us. I will be looking for a pair of Monarch Butterflies fly around. 

I assume I’ll have to keep rooting for Dodgers as well! 💙

Brenton James Billos was born on December 5, 1968 in Los Angeles County, California. Brent graduated from Burbank High School with the Class of 1987.  Brent's passion was surfing. He at one time lived at Mission Beach in San Diego. His classmates said that Brent's lifestyle and his addiction lead to his early death. According to the Los Angeles Medical Examiner report Brent's cause of death was determined to be accidental due to alcohol intoxication.

Brent passed away on July 3, 2006 in Los Angeles County, California at the age of 37. Brent's family held a memorial service at San Onofre State beach where his ashes were spread. Everyone knew how much Brent loved to surf. Brenton James Billos is missed by his family, friends and fellow classmates. Rest in Peace!

Stephen Andrew Woody, age 46, of Prescott, Arizona passed away on Jan. 27, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving wife, Pastor Al and his wife Julie. Stephen was born on May 25, 1969 in Glendale, California to Stephen and Connie Woody.

He is survived by his wife Sandra Kay Woody; his loving father Stephen Woody; a sister Tamara Woody-Ortega; paternal grandmother Billie Jean Woody; maternal grandfather Arvie Kyle; a niece Rene Ortega; and numerous other family members.

He was preceded in death by his mother Connie Woody and paternal grandfather Floyd Earl Woody.

 

Steve had a huge love for baseball and played as a young child and into college. Steve graduated from Burbank High School in California. Over the years, he has lived in California, Florida and Arizona. He was a true blue Dodgers fan, L.A. Lakers fan and an Oakland Raiders fan.

He spent most of his life as a mechanic and ended his final days as a production manager at ABC Carstar Body and Frame in Prescott, Arizona.

He attended Calvary Daysprings Chapel where he served as an usher and volunteered to help wherever his "MUSCLES" were needed!

He will be remembered for his quick wit, love of animals, outdoors and mostly his huge heart. He will dearly be missed by many and his favorite color was BLUE.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016 at Calvary Chapel Daysprings Church, 2180 Gulfstream in Prescott, AZ 86301.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend the service and reception following service.

Richard Jock Barassi, 41, of Santa Barbara, died Saturday, March 5, 2011 due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Carpentaria.
Richard was born Oct. 5, 1969 in Pacoima to Robert and Martha (Seybold) Barassi and had been a resident of Ventura for 30 years. Richard was a resident of Santa Barbara for two years. He graduated from Burbank High School in 1987. Richard had been a bicycle technician for over 22 years. He was employed with Eco Bikes, of Carpinteria, and Treasure Chest, of Ventura.
He also attended Calvary Chapel in Santa Barbara. His hobbies included camping, hiking, fishing, and long walks on the beach at sunset. However, his passion was bikes, motorcycles and hot rods.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Seybold, in October of 1999. He is survived by his father, Robert A. Barassi, of North Hollywood; brothers, James Barassi, of Santa Barbara, and Joseph Barassi, of Ventura.
A memorial service will take place 2 p.m. Friday, March 18, at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura, with the Reverend Jim Deck officiating.
