Born in Los Angeles, California, to Victor and Jean Boggis; died at home in Los Angeles. Survived by her sons Brian R. Smith (56), Daniel L. Smith (55), and Michael V. Boggio-Goldman (44), seven grandchildren, and sister Lynn Volz. She was previously married to Richard H. Smith, Martin M. Goldman, and Paulino Zavala. 

An investigative journalist, political activist, and longtime public educator - Ann touched countless lives.

Memorial service on February 8th at Forest Lawn Glendale, at 10 a.m.

Wesley J Allen, 84, passed away peacefully at his home in Cherry Hills Village on February 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Wes was born on March 4, 1940 in Topeka, Kansas to Elizabeth and Hugh Allen. He graduated from Burbank High School in 1958 and attended the University of Denver, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business and accounting. He worked at Price Waterhouse as a CPA before taking a job at Leprino Foods. He spent 38 years at Leprino, 28 of which were as President.

He married his high school sweetheart, Karen, in 1963. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in June on a cruise to Iceland.

After retiring in 2005, he enjoyed spending time at their winter home in La Quinta, California. He and Karen also enjoyed an annual trip to Maui and traveling to many international destinations.

He is survived by his wife Karen, and two children, Kim and Lance. Kim and her husband, Brian, have two children, Dalton and Maddie. Lance and his wife, Lezlie, have four children, Brodie, Bentley, Jake and Ross. His favorite role was as a grandparent. His grandchildren lovingly called him "Papa", and he treasured the time he spent with each of them. He will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him. We will miss his laughter and generous spirit.

Yvonne Marie Johnson (Flores) class of 1958 passed away July 19, 2014. 

My mom never left Burbank after high school and passed away peacefully after attending a BHS/JBHS reunion in 2013 at the Castaway were she was the oldest graduate there.

Sharon L. Shoemaker, 70, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 18, 2010 in Burbank, California.

Sharon was born in Burbank, California on December 5, 1939. She attended Burbank schools and graduated from Burbank High School in 1958.

She is survived by Donald Shoemaker, her daughters Shareen and Holly, son Richard, and seven grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 28, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of the Hills, Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills.

Curtis Smith was born on June 23, 1940, the son of Curtis and Elizabeth Grein Smith. His younger brother Alan graduated BHS '62. Curtis passed away on September 23, 2024 after a brief battle with brain cancer. 

He was a dedicated husband and father who proudly bragged about his grandkids. At Burbank High School, he excelled in basketball and attended the University of Evansville (Indiana) on a basketball scholarship. He returned to Burbank and enjoyed a distinguished 30-year career at Lockheed Aircraft, marrying Carole Lynn Prescott Smith, BHS '62 and together they had two daughters. 

After retirement, he and Carole traveled the world and welcomed 5 grandchildren into the world.

As the class president of BHS ‘82, I’ve been the one to post the announcements of those classmates who have passed. This time however, it hits far more close to my heart and home.

 My mother, Sandra Thurston Lamprich, BHS Class of 1958 passed away early on the morning September 30, 2024. My heart aches as I post this with her senior photo and a more recent photo. She was surrounded by loved ones. She and my father are together again ❤️ 🙏❤️

 Late last night or very early this morning my dad passed away. The past two to three years he dealt with medical challenges that slowly took from him that which we take for granted. His name was Ronald M. Everett but was know simply as "Ron". Losing my blood father to a plane crash at a very young age, my mom remarried Ron and from that day forward, he has been my "Dad". In the beginning, it was he, my mom, me and my sister. And then soon came three more sisters. Something that impressed me over the years he raised the five of us, was that he always treated us equally.

"We were both of similar stature, broader in the shoulders and thicker in the chest. In years gone by more that a couple times someone had said, you look like your dad. We'd smile at each other and just say thank you.

"If there was a memorial/celebration of life that could have been done Pre-Covid, I'm quite sure there would be a good number of people in attendance. Not just because we come from a large family but because he touched many lives. Yes he was a husband, father and grandfather but also

-Involved in his church for decades

-Participated in leadership for the Walnut Valley School District

And

-Participated in city politics for his city of Diamond Bar, CA. He was a Councilman and then held the position of Mayor of Diamond Bar.

"It was some months back we were told that his time may be near and Debbie and I went out to see him at the care facility he was at. We made up a little photo album for him to flip through and hopefully trigger memories. My sister Marla shared later that there were two pictures we put in the book of he with his two brothers and he'd tap his finger and linger on. I was able to hold his hand we shared a gaze but the ability to share in give and take conversation, that time was gone.

"If this had been fast and sudden, there would be more sorrow. But given the road he had traveled to get here, my feelings today are more of joy knowing he is in heaven and is suffering no more.

"Blessings to my sister Marla and brother-in-law Steve Rickard, who for so many months drove up to my folks and cared for dad, daily. I am moved by their enduring care and love."

Curtis Vincent Keith, 80, husband of Phyllis Ann Fensom Keith, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2020. He was born in Yamacraw, Kentucky, on May 10, 1939, to the late Vincent and Rose Headrick Keith. He was a retired senior property guard for the city of Burbank, California and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Angel Krieg, Clinton Keith and Toby Keith; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren; two sisters, Janis Miller and Velta Keith; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Norma Newell and wife of 53 years Sheryl Loy McGussey Keith.

Services will be at 9:30 AM, Saturday, February 29, 2020 by Rev. Ron Barker at Calvary Baptist Church, 204 French Avenue, Winchester, Kentucky. Burial will be in Winchester Cemetery.

Elisabeth Stapp, 80, of Arvada, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on January 19, 2021.

Born on December 12, 1940 in Glendale, California she was the daughter of Emil and Mary (Wagenseller) Erselius.

Elisabeth enjoyed being a homemaker, administrative assistant to her ex-husband's drywall business, and ultimately as an involved grandmother.

She will be remembered for her kindness, her love of family, and her love of travel. She enjoyed sports; she was a true and loyal Broncos and Rockies fan. She loved the theater.

She is survived by her daughters: Toni Langedyk and husband, John; Julie Bowen and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Megan, Kaitlyn, and Zachary Bowen; Katrein, Anneke, and Pieter Langedyk; and her brother, Robert Erselius.

A small intimate service to be held on February 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Horan & McConaty Cremation Garden in Centennial, Colorado.

Jacqueline Louise (nee McNellis) Boebinger, 78, of Reseda, California, passed away February 16, 2018. She was born November 23, 1939 in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of John Kathleen (nee Lutes) McNellis.

Jackie enjoyed her family and life, and had an infectious laugh. She enjoyed going to the horse races along with playing tennis with her husband; hanging out with her family and friends.

She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Charles "Chuck" Boebinger; she is survived by her daughter Donnette and son-in-law, Rob Nelson; her grandsons, Keith and John. She will be greatly missed by all her knew her.

Nicolas E. Nicoletti was born in Chicago, Illinois. Hs parents, who have preceded him in death were Nicholas G. and Bertha D. Nicoletti. Nick was an only child and spent his early years in Chicago surrounded by a loving family of aunts, uncles and cousins. The family moved to Burbank, California in July of 1951.Nick graduated from Burbank High School and then attended UC-Berkeley graduated in 1962 with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. Nick served in the US Army from 1963 to1965. During his professional career, Nick worked for RCA, Capital Records, ABC and HBO. Nick then spent several years as a financial operations consultant in the entertainment industry.

Nick's passion in life was travel. He enjoyed visiting many countries and experiencing new places and cultures. In February 2005 he was awarded a membership in the "7 Continents Club" when he reached Antarctica.

Nick enjoyed life and lived it to its fullest. In addition to a successful professional career, he was very active in philanthropic community activities. Nick served as the CoChair of the Enertainment Industeries Allocations Committee as well as being a board member of Aid for Aids and LA Shanti. He worked tireleddly to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for these charities. Please direct any donations in Nick's honor to Aid for Aids or LA Shanti.

At the time of his death Nick was still seeking out new destinations in the world to explore.

Ken Layne March 16, 1940 – May 6, 2021

Santa Cruz -  Charles Kenneth (“Ken”) Layne, 81, passed away May 6 — relieved to have caught the opening races of one last NASCAR season.

Ken was born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 16, 1940, and came of age in Burbank, where he built hot rods, worked pit crews, and helped pen the lyrics to “Plastic Jesus” before graduating from USC and marrying Roseann Coonerty.

After a move to Los Altos in 1966, Ken cemented his career in the automotive engineering industry at Chek-Chart, Balco, Snap-On, and H.M. Gousha. He wrote several textbooks on automotive engine performance and rebuilt his beloved 1956 Chevrolet 3100 pickup truck while raising two kids, playing in a bluegrass band called The Overcoat Charlies, and teaching night classes to young mechanics at De Anza College.

In retirement, Ken moved to Santa Cruz and migrated each winter to the Sinaloa village of El Quelite, where he wrote stories about life in rural Mexico and a book manuscript titled “It Was All Los Angeles Music.” Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. and Eleanor, and his wife, Roseann. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Geri Layne; his daughter and son-in-law, Anni and Jonathan Rodgers; and his two grandchildren, MacKinlay and Charlotte Rodgers; as well as the family and friends who will celebrate his life on October 10.

The Casciato family is sad to announce the passing of Clarann Joy Casciato of Bell Canyon on Oct. 14, 2023.

Born May 11, 1940 to Leslie and Clara Tait, Joy passed away unexpectedly from complications that arose during a procedure at Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute to correct a leaking valve in her heart. She was 83.

Joy studied at Santa Barbara University and then UCLA, earning her bachelor's degree. She obtained a teaching credential and taught grade school while her husband, Dennis Casciato, made his way through medical school. She was a homemaker while her sons grew up in the San Fernando Valley and also worked as a billing manager for her husband’s medical practice.

Among many interests, she loved horses, her dogs, art, and cultivating her roses at her home in Bell Canyon.

Joy is survived by her sons, Frank and Andy; her granddaughters, Jessica, Jordan, Emily and Tait Rose; and her “daughter,” Jennifer. Her husband, Dr. Dennis Casciato, passed away in 2013.

The family intended to have a funeral mass before Christmas, but following her tradition with her Christmas Cards, it will be held on January 13, at 11 am at St. Mel’s Catholic Church, 20870 Ventura Blvd, Woodland Hills, CA 91364. A luncheon reception will follow the mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Joy's memory to one of her favorite charities: the Sisters of St. Louis, the Red Cloud Indian School of South Dakota, or an animal rescue of your choosing; such as the Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue, Villalobos Rescue Center, the MARA Elephant Project or SPCA LA, Natural Resources Defense Council to name a few. June 30, 1940 - August 11, 2008 

Janice found eternal peace on August 11, 2008. She was a 10 year breast cancer survivor and fought a courageous battle with myelocytic leukemia for 21 months. Throughout her illness her focus and concern was always with her family and friends. Her love, friendship, kindness and generosity wil l forever be remembered. 

Janice is survived by the love of her life of 28 years, Stephen Ryle; her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Suzanne Heisler; her sister and brother-in-law, Gayle and Robert Strickland; her nephews, Daniel Heisler, Ryan Heisler, Lance Strickland and his wife Danyel; and her aunt, Nell Kelly. 

Thank you to everyone for all the love and support you gave Janice throughout her illness. In accordance with her wishes, Janice will be cremated and her ashes scattered at sea during a private memorial.

Janet E. Claypool, 55, died July 13, 1996 in a Mission Hills hospital. Born in Long Beach, she was a former 18-year Burbank resident.

Mrs. Claypool was a Crisis Intake Director for San Fernando Valley Community Heath Center. She attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Reseda Ward.

She is survived by he faher, William H. Davis of Burbank; her two sons, Rod Dean of Los Angeles and Cary Dean of Sun City, California; her two daughters, Wendy Claypool of Canoga Park and Stacie Parsley of Reseda; one brother, William R. Davis of Valencia; two sisters, Mariilyn Burton of Castaic and Francis Davis of Tustin,; and five grandchildren.

Services were held July 18 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Reseda.Interment will followat Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth. Eckerman-Heisman Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Dearly beloved husband of Cheryl S. Fitzgerald and loving father of Scott Fitzgerald. Much loved son-in-law of Dorothy and the late Isaac Lyu. Devoted son of Cora and the late Tate Fitzgerald; and brother of Kathleen Stuckert. Unending love and support by family members Sylvian and David Goodspeed, Charlotte Maemori, Milton Lyu, and the Waite, Whitehead, Marvel and Gutierrez families. 

Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, an avid fisherman and a lover of music. He will be dearly missed by his numerous friends and relatives.
