George A. "Tony" Moore,73, died Sunday at a local convalescent hospital following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Moore was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but moved with his family to Los Angeles as an infant. He graduated from Burbank High School and later went to work for the Los Angeles Police Department. He served in the United States Navy during the second Worald War as a chief petty officer in the Shore Patrol. Following the war he returned to duty with the LAPD and retired in 1971. By the time of his retirement , he had become the officer with the longst record of service on motorcycles of all the motorcycle patrolman in California.

He was married in Carson City, Nevada on September 27, 1971. Between 1971 and the present he spent part of the time living in Los Angeles and part of the time in Napa, alternating between the two places. He became involved in traveling during his retirement and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Mr. Moore was a member of San Gabriel Lodge 278, F. & A.M., Al Malaikah Temple of the Shrine, San Gabriel Valley Shrine Club, "Koppers" unit at Al Malaikah Shrine, Cryptic Masons of California Council No. 5, Royal Arch Masons Signet Chapter 57, Knights Templar of California Los Angeles Cammandery 9, Peace Officers Serine Club of Los Angeles County, Los Angeles Police Masonic Square Club, American Legion Post381 of Los Angeles, a life member of the Municipal Motorcycle Officiers of California and was a honorary Kentucky colonel.

Mr. Moore is survived by his wife Ruth P. of Napa; one step-son, Dr. Robert Nasser of Napa; two brothers Donald of Orange and Jack of San Dimas; and three step-grand children.

Masonic memorial services will be held in Southern California at a time and place to be announced. Priviate inurnment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in the Hollywood Hills. The family suggusts memorial contributions to a charity of the donor's choice.

BURBANK – Nellie Harris died November 29, 2001, in Grants Pass, Oregon. She was 91 years old.

Mrs. Harris was born October 11, 1910, in Topeka, Kansas. She lived in Burbank for most of her life. Mrs. Harris worked as a baker for the Burbank schools. She was a member of the local Methodist church. She enjoyed crafts and bridge.

Mrs. Harris is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald R. and Jean Harris; daughter, Theresa Baker; granddaughter Melanie Baker; grandson, Kevin Baker; brother and sister-in-law, Everett and Marie White; brother, Lloyd White; sister, Eileen Purier.

Funeral services are pending.

Roscoe Resident Dies of Collision Hurts on Day Set for Nuptial

Roscoe, August 16 - Last rites were to be held at Burbank today for Robert A. Williams, 27, who died Saturday, on the day he was to have been married.

Williams succumbed to injuries received in a traffic accident 10 miles south of Little Lake, near Lone Pine. He was riding in the sleeping compartment of a large truck when the vehicle collided with an auto, it was reported.

Williams was to have been married to Inez U. Nelson of 10608 Crockett Street, Roscoe. Williams resided at 7551 San Fernando Road, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Williams. He is also survived by a sister, Mildred, of Roscoe, and a brother, John, Jr., of Chicago. Both Williams and Miss Nelson were graduates of the Burbank High School.

Funeral services were set for 2:30 p.m. in the Fillbach Chapel, Burbank, followed by interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Longtime Glendale resident Genevieve Sultenfuss, who achieved several firsts for women in realty and community leadership, died on Sunday. She was 104. Her legacy included serving as the first female president of both the Glendale Assn. of Realtors and later the Glendale Chamber of Commerce. "Genevieve was a kind soul, she was a wonderful role model, and a beautiful spirit," said Councilwoman Paula Devine during Tuesday's City Council meeting. "She touched a lot of lives in her 104 years. She will not be forgotten." Sultenfuss was born on Aug. 12, 1910, in Colorado. She moved with her family to Burbank in 1923 and graduated from Burbank High School. She worked as a legal secretary for 10 years before moving onto a career selling homes in Glendale. In 1955, she opened her own realty firm, Glendale Properties Inc., and worked in real estate for 30 years before retiring. She was president of the Realtor association in 1968 and recalled in a 2005 interview with the News-Press what it was like to be in that kind of role while she was surrounded predominantly by men. "I just worked and worked and when people asked me to do something, I didn't know how to say 'no,'" Sultenfuss said. "I took it very slowly at first and didn't want to try and dictate to all these men what to do." She was also named Realtor of the Year by the association in 1972. Rick Barnes, the association's current president, said he first met Sultenfuss in 1976 and referred to her as a "stateswoman" for her decades of community involvement. "For me, she was the standard of excellence as a leader," he said in a phone interview. "She had a code of excellence and she lived it." Sultenfuss also won the Woman of Achievement award in 1977, bestowed by the News-Press. She was named president of the chamber of commerce that year and was a past president of Soroptomist International of Glendale, a volunteer organization for business and professional women, which she joined in 1961 and was a member of for 50 years. Sultenfuss was also the first woman to earn the Glendale Bar Assn.'s Liberty Bell Award. A big party in 2010 honoring Sultenfuss' 100th birthday was held at the local Elk's Lodge with more than 250 close friends and family in attendance. The City Council adjourned in her memory on Tuesday. As a past chair of the city's Commission on the Status of Women, Devine said she once named Sultenfuss as the chair's Jewel in honor of her life's work. During the council meeting, Devine fondly recalled another milestone for women Sultenfuss accomplished — being the first female member of the all-male Verdugo Club. "She felt that there would be some concern if she let people know, so every time she went to a meeting, she would take a male guest so that everyone would think he was the member and she was the guest," Devine said. "That was her sense of humor." Funeral arrangements are still pending and Sultenfuss' family members are encouraging donations be made in her honor to Soroptomist International of Glendale.

Wanda Wheeler Cambell a pioneer resident of Burbank died at the age of 74 on Tuesday, July 29, 1986 in an Los Angeles hospital.

Mrs. Cambell was born in a Burbank Hospital in 1911, the year the city was incorporated and graduated from Burbank High School in 1928.

During her years in Burbank, she was a life-time member of the PTA, active at Joaquinn Miller, John Muir and Burbank High Schools. She was active with the Girl Scouts and was a member of the Toast Mistress Club. With her late husband Maynard Cambell she was instrumental in developing a youth baseball program in Burbank and was involved in the "Clean Up Burbank" campaigan in the 1950's. In later years she became successful in local real estate dealings.

She is surivived by a son, Burton Cambell of Glendale, three daughter, Dorothy Kosmak of Alanta, Marian D'Elia of Burbank and Grace Striving of Sunland; two sisters, Lynette Warren of Pismo Beach, Katherine Roskilly of San Fernando and 13 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held today at the First Presbyterian Church of Burbank. Interment will be priviate.
