Dr. Loris Yadegarian, DPO,  BHS 1989

August 1, 1971 – February 28, 2025

Loris was born August 1, 1971 in Isfahan, Iran to John and Artemis Yadegarian. He moved to the U.S. in November 1989 when he was 8 years old, initially living in Rancho Palos Verdes for two years and then moving to Burbank, California where he attended Burbank High School. 

He graduated with an undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the University of Southern California. He attended Temple University in Philadelphia where he earned his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine and practiced the past 20+ years as a Podiatric Foot & Ankle Surgeon in Van Nuys, CA. 

He was diagnosed with cancer in August of 2024. Loris took his last breath on February 28, 2025 surrounded by the love of his sister, girlfriend, family and friends. While he was taken from this life too soon, he left a lasting mark on this world.

Brett Christopher Shapen, age 52, of Temecula, California passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. Brett was born in California. He grew up in Burbank with his younger brother Brian and parents Leon and Patricia Shapen. Brett was a 1989 graduate of Burbank High School.

A funeral service for Brett will be held Monday, May 8, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at St Vincent Ferrer Church, 27931 Murrieta Road, Menifee, CA 92585. A committal service will occur Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Miller Jones Menifee Memorial Park and Mortuary, 26770 Murrieta Rd., Menifee, CA 92585.

Our family misses him so much even though it has been many years since he has passed away. 

Scott actually died from a very acute form of Leukemia. He was in remission for almost a year and doing really well. He bought a pick up truck, went skydiving and got a dog. 

Then one day he wasn't feeling well and thought he had a cold. Tragically, the cancer had come back in a more aggressive form. My sister was a bone marrow match for him, but he didn't survive long enough to have the transplant. 

He was 20 years old when he died. Way too young for anyone to be taken from a family. We will all miss him for the rest of our lives. Thanks again for taking time to remember my brother! Julie Horton

Kelly Jean Wilkins, 47, of Le Mars, formerly of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018 at Unity Point Health- St. Luke's in Sioux City, Iowa following an extended illness. A graveside service will take place at a later date. The Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars is assisting Kelly’s family with funeral arrangements.

Angelica Cob-Baehler, a longtime music-business management and publicity executive, died Wednesday November 21, 2018 after a long battle with cancer, Variety has confirmed. She was 47.

She began her career as an intern at Elektra Records and after her graduation from UCLA was hired as a publicity assistant at Atlantic in 1993. There, she rose to senior director, working with Stone Temple Pilots, Kid Rock and Jewel before moving to Columbia Records as a VP in 2001. At that label, she worked closely with such acts as John Mayer, System of a Down and the Offspring, and also developed a strong relationship with a young singer whose album for the label was never released: Katy Perry.

Cob-Baehler moved to Virgin Records as an SVP in 2005 (which merged into the EMI Music Group), where she launched an ultimately successful campaign to bring Perry to the label. She played a large role in the A&R and creative direction of the singer’s 2008 breakthrough album, “One of the Boys,” as well as the follow-up, “Teenage Dream.” She was SVP of media and creative services at the company at the time of her departure in 2011, for an EVP marketing job at Epic.

After less than a year, she left the Sony Music label to join Jeff Kwatinetz at Prospect Park, which morphed into The Firm and later Big3/Prospect Park/Cube Vision, where she worked closely with Ice Cube, his son (and “Straight Outta Compton” star) O’Shea Jackson Jr. and other artists.

She was promoted to the head of music at the company in 2016 but became ill not long afterward and spent much of the past couple of years battling the disease. Known as “Geli,” Cob-Baehler was a friend (and former co-worker) of Variety’s music staff for more than two decades. She faced her illness with admirable courage, optimism and humor, even as the prognosis grew negative.

She leaves her husband, Chapman, and two young daughters. May she rest in peace.

Note: Cob-Baehler was born in San Jose, Costa Rica in 1971 and moved with her family to Burbank, California in 1981. She attended UCLA and graduated with a degree in Political Science in 1993.

Aaron Fiesell, BHS 1989

On December 18, 2017, Aaron Fiesell (BHS Class of 1989) was struck by a car and left in a coma due to his serious injuries. 

Unfortunately, he passed last night January 2018 and our hearts are left broken by this loss. Aaron was truly a man who lived life to its fullest, entertaining and inspiring those around him. He created and film many a videos.

Aaron was living with his 89 year-old father Norm and with Aaron's sudden death he struggle to pay for his son' funeral and had to find another place to live. The VA in San Diego is helping. 

Aaron was well liked and loved by all his family and friends and will be truly missed.

Darlene Kay Paul Suhrbier, BHS 1989

Sadly, BHS Class of 1989 has lost another classmate this year. Darlene Kay Suhrbier (aka Darlene Paul) passed yesterday Feburary 1, 2018 after heart surgery complications that she'd been battling since November. She leaves behind her husband Steve, her three kids Kirstin, Erika, and Brad, and a cute little grandson, Trace.

I met Darlene when we were at John Muir together. I thought she was so cool with her awesome red hair, not to mention she had Cabbage Patch kids and I didn't. My brothers and I even started taking ceramics classes with Darlene's grandmother on Saturday mornings. In high school, Darlene and I were on Drill Team together. And if blue polyester uniforms with white knee-high go-go boots and blue eye shadow doesn't bond friends, tell me, what does?

When I moved back to L.A. after a 17-year long absence to the east coast, Darlene was one of the first people I reconnected with. And she introduced me to Lemon Drops! She made me feel at home again even though so much time had passed.

Always an outgoing, caring soul, loved by many, Darlene will be missed greatly.
