Authorities ID Motorist Fatally Shot By Deputy

SELIGMAN – A motorist shot dead January 8, 2004 when he tried to run down a Yavapai County sheriff’s deputy was identified Tuesday as Seligman resident Uve Herbert Reesh, 45.

The shooting took place while deputies were investigating the hit-and-run traffic death of William James Verner, 51, also of Seligman.

Reesh, a suspect in Verner’s death, was shot in the Bridge Canyon area when he tried to run down a deputy with his vehicle, ignoring commands to stop, authorities said.

The entire incident remains under investigation, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said.

Charlotte Ann Montgomery Hubley, BHS 1943

Charlotte Ann Montgomery Hubley, passed away February 11, 2022 at the age of 96 in Kingwood, Texas. After graduating from Burbank High in 1943, she attended the University of California Santa Barbara, where she majored in theater arts. Following World War II, she married John Shoap Hubley from Glendale, a lieutenant in the US Army Air Corps and engineering graduate from the University of Southern California. They have six children living in Texas and Illinois who have survived them both.

As well as being an avid gardener, Charlotte devoted years to acting at many local theaters in Dallas and California. She volunteered in her later years for the Burbank Historical Society and a local arboretum, and was an elementary school teacher’s aide. She had a deep love for her California home and only moved to Texas to be near her children six years before her death.

DRIVER SURRENDERS IN CALAVERAS CRASH

San Andreas – A 24-year-old surrendered Friday in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on Railroad Flat Road on March 7, 2003, the California Highway Patrol reported. Tyson Ristrom, 24, was booked at Calaveras County Jail on charges of vehicular manslaughter, felony driving while intoxicated, felony hit-and-run and driving on a suspended license, according to the CHP.

Ristrom, from Westport in Mendocino County, is accused in a collision that fatally injured the other driver, Lawrence Orosco.

Sandra Jean Haldeman, 39, of Paso Robles died Monday, November 4, 1991, at her home.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church in Paso Robles with the Rev. James Henry officiating. Burial will be at the Paso Robles District Cemetery. Miss Haldeman was born November 8, 1951, in El Paso, Texas. Formerly of Burbank, California, she had lived in Paso Robles eight years. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church.

She is survived by her parents, Robert and Mary Jean Haldeman of Paso Robles; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Teri Ann and Michael Molinaro of Geyserville, Jill and Robert King of Palmdale and Melissa and Jerry Santoro of Paso Robles; a brother and sister-in-law, Rob and Beverly Haldeman of Castaic; her grandmother, Edith Haldeman of Westminster; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donations in her memory may be made to St. Rose Catholic Church. Arrangements are by Kuehl-Nicolay Paso Robles Funeral Chapel.

Patricia Vollmer born March 25, 1941; passed away July 30, 1997. A lifetime resident of Los Angeles and Los Angeles Times employee. 

She is survived by Ruth Smith, Erich Vollmer, Robert Phillips, David and Amanda Parris, many cousins and Beaumont.

TWO KILLED IN MISHAPS ON SLIPPERY STREETS

Two persons were dead and a third seriously injured in traffic accidents on Los Angeles’ slippery streets yesterday, police said.

Thrown from a skidding automobile, Ira Lee Spencer, 22, of side Drive of Glendale, police said, Spencer, former Army pilot, was riding with William James Claxton, of 2836 Pariso Way, La Crescenta, and was hurled headlong into the curbing when the car skidded in attempting to avoid a collision with another machine. Claxton was not held.
