George Antoine (Tony) Moore, BHS 1928

George A. "Tony" Moore,73, died Sunday at a local convalescent hospital following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Moore was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but moved with his family to Los Angeles as an infant. He graduated from Burbank High School and later went to work for the Los Angeles Police Department. He served in the United States Navy during the second Worald War as a chief petty officer in the Shore Patrol. Following the war he returned to duty with the LAPD and retired in 1971. By the time of his retirement , he had become the officer with the longst record of service on motorcycles of all the motorcycle patrolman in California.

He was married in Carson City, Nevada on September 27, 1971. Between 1971 and the present he spent part of the time living in Los Angeles and part of the time in Napa, alternating between the two places. He became involved in traveling during his retirement and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Mr. Moore was a member of San Gabriel Lodge 278, F. & A.M., Al Malaikah Temple of the Shrine, San Gabriel Valley Shrine Club, "Koppers" unit at Al Malaikah Shrine, Cryptic Masons of California Council No. 5, Royal Arch Masons Signet Chapter 57, Knights Templar of California Los Angeles Cammandery 9, Peace Officers Serine Club of Los Angeles County, Los Angeles Police Masonic Square Club, American Legion Post381 of Los Angeles, a life member of the Municipal Motorcycle Officiers of California and was a honorary Kentucky colonel.

Mr. Moore is survived by his wife Ruth P. of Napa; one step-son, Dr. Robert Nasser of Napa; two brothers Donald of Orange and Jack of San Dimas; and three step-grand children.

Masonic memorial services will be held in Southern California at a time and place to be announced. Priviate inurnment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in the Hollywood Hills. The family suggusts memorial contributions to a charity of the donor's choice.
