Richard Michael “Rick “ Schofield was born the second son of Ralph and Dianne Schofield on December 7, 1949. He grew up with his brother, Randy, in Burbank California. Rick joined his father in the family electric business at the tender age of 5, and the knowledge he acquired from that early exposure would prove valuable in his later years. After his high school graduation, like so many of his contemporaries, Rick joined the military, choosing to serve in the United States Air Force in April of 1969. During his tour of duty, he served in Thailand during the Viet Nam conflict servicing and maintaining the equipment that loaded bombs on our planes. Rick served his country faithfully until August of 1976, when he was Honorably Discharged. Upon his discharge, Rick joined his brother, Randy, working as an electrician. Eventually, Rick, along with his partner, Al Nordstrom, opened Norscho Electric which he owned and operated until his illness forced him to retire and close the business in 2009
Throughout his life, Rick was an avid collector of license plates. He attended many local as well as national meets, and until his illness forced him to slow down, his attendance record at the Silver State Meets had been perfect, dating back to the organizations first ever meet. He was able to attend his last meet in 2021. Rick was well known and well respected in this community. He was recipient of many honors, foremost being inducted into the Automobile License Plate Collectors Association Hall of Fame in 2013.
He also had an extensive collection of Donald Duck memorabilia, ranging from modern, iconic pieces to many unique and antique items he picked up over many years. Rick was outgoing and friendly, with a smile that warmed a room. He was always ready to offer a helping hand.
He was a loving husband to Linda, his wife of nearly 30 years. He was a loving father to Brian and step-father to Terri, Robyn, Bobby and Beth, loving brother to Randy and loving friend to so many. He went home to be with the Lord peacefully in his sleep on May 5, 2022.
Absent from body, at home with the Lord 2 Corinthians 5:8) But he will be greatly missed. Burial was in the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California.
