Joyce Neumeier was born in Jamestown, NY, on January 29, 1929, and entered the gates of heaven on Wednesday, November 4 , 2015. Muz is remembered as a faithful wife, a caring mother and grandmother, a volunteer, and a minister of hospitality. ................. Dennis Alan Seifert , BHS 1975

On Wednesday morning, December 2, 2015 Dennis Alan Seifert passed away peacefully from this life in his sleep surrounded by his devoted little companion and his husband Howard Hawley. Dennis has been a resident of Corona for 27 years. He was born in Burbank California where he grew up and attended school graduating from Burbank High School in 1975. ............Dennis was an accomplished organist having studied this part of music for several years in junior high school and continuing on in high school. He was the relief organist for Burbank Community Church and continued on as relief organist for several other churches including the Metropolitan Community Church where he became friends with its founder Troy Perry. Dennis’s father and Grandfather were involved with the Seifert roofing company in Glendale for many years. After high school Dennis worked for the city of Los Angeles for a short while then enrolled in Cal Poly University in Pomona where he majored in Hotel and Restaurant management. He graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel-Restaurant Management and Business Administration. He was offered a job with the Hilton Hotel in Burbank as night manager where he worked for several years............. Dennis liked diversity and he became interested in Real Estate. He studied and became an agent and later on a broker dealing in reselling of repossed houses nation wide. In 1987 he met the love of his life Howard Hawley, moving to Corona in 1988 and working privately in property management. Dennis always had a passion to try to make things better and help others. He attributed his sense of desire for community involment to his parents especially his mother who was involved in many charity organizations. He would go with her when she volunteered to work the election polling spots and always felt this had a profound impact on his sense of duty to his county and the importance of participation in the election process. In the later part of the 80’s, Dennis was briefly involved with the Corona Lions Club and volunteered at Gods Kitchen for the homeless. The impending Presidential race of 1991 and the hope for change caused Dennis to form the Corona Democratic Club where he served as President for its first year. He attended several city council meetings and felt the current council was non-receptive to current issues so he announced his intention to run for an open seat. Dennis did not win the election but it brought him into a political circle of new and challenging things. He went on to run for 66th Assembly district the following year................... Dennis is survived by his husband Howard, his brother David Seifert, Cousins Thomas Peterman and Barry Seifert. He is predeceased by his parents Calvin and Doris Seifert .The greatest is love and even more so unconditional Love; It knows no boundaries, and no gender. Dennis and Howard were together in life and love for 27 years, never leaving each other’s side. Viewing will be at 3pm on Sunday, 12-13. Rosary will start promptly at 4pm at Thomas Miller Mortuary. Requiem Mass will be Tuesday at St. Matthews Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Luncheon and reception will follow at Canyon Crest Country club starting at 12 noon. The burial will be private at Crestlawn Mausoleum. Howard requests that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so make a donation to either the Shiners’ Hospital or the auxillary at Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Dennis’s name.

Charles Husted Pomeroy, III, BHS 1952

Charles Husted Pomeroy, III (Chuck) was born in Burbank California to Flora May Fox Pomeroy and Charles Housted Pomeroy, Jr on July 31, 1933.

He was the youngest of their four children: Flora May Pomeroy Hanger; Mildred Margaret Pomeroy Deen; and Carolyn Pomeroy (died in infancy). Chuck attended Burbank High School and participated in track and football. He graduated in 1952. After high school he served in the Army and, after training at Camp San Luis Obispo, was stationed in Germany - USAEUR, 7774th Signal Battalion, Hammonds Barracks, Seckenheim.

He came home to work at Lockheed in Burbank, California, where he met Nancy Jane "Nan" Davis. They were married in Las Vegas Nevada on April 6, 1957. They had three children: Charles Husted Pomeroy IV, Vance Davis Pomeroy, and Margaret Marie Pomeroy.

Chuck and Nan celebrated forty years of marriage together until her passing in 1998. Chuck worked for Standard Oil/Chevron for most of his working years as an Assistant Manager and Manager of stations in the San Fernando Valley before purchasing a franchise of his own.

He spent his free time working on his Packards and muscle cars. Charles H. Pomeroy, III passed away on December 7, 2015 at Providence St. Joseph Hospital in Burbank CA.

A memorial service will be held on December 19, 2015 at Valley Funeral Home in Burbank, CA. His remains will be laid to rest at Grand View Memorial Park in Glendale, California, with his wife, parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. He is survived by his three children and five grandchildren.

Patricia Joyce Peck, 78, died peacefully at her Scottsdale, Arizona home with family by her side on November 12, 2015.

Patricia was born July 24, 1937, in Los Angeles, California, to Gordon and Joyce Palmer. The family moved from Hollywood to Burbank when Patricia was 12 years old where she and her sisters, Susie and Cathy, attended Miller Elementary, John Muir Jr High and Burbank High. After graduating high school in 1955, she went to college and received her teaching credentials from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Her first job was teaching 2nd grade at Lincoln Elementary in Burbank. 

Patricia married Carl ‘Bud’ Lundquist, Jr and took a break from teaching to raise their three children. Years later and single again, Pat took a teaching job on Catalina Island where she met and married Frank Peck. 

After retirement and Frank’s passing, Patricia relocated to Scottsdale. She is survived by daughters Karen Lenoski of Monte Sereno, CA, Kristine Lundquist of Scottsdale and son Charles Lundquist of San Jose, CA, sisters Susan Wheeler of Scottsdale and Cathy Palmer of Panama City Beach, FL, grandchildren Veronica Lenoski of Seattle, WA, Steven Lenoski of Santa Barbara, CA and Nicole Lenoski of Santa Cruz, CA, nieces Laura (Greg) Test of Scottsdale, Lynn (Nathan) Cundiff of Scottsdale, Linda (Ernie) Cavitt of Panama City Beach, FL and nephew John Emmett of Key Largo, FL, great nieces Hannah Emmett and Lauren Cavitt both of Panama City Beach, FL. Patricia is greatly missed by her family and her many friends. ............

Marian E. Jones Jacobs,BHS 1946 Marian E. Jacobs, 84 of New Era, passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 in New Era. She was born April 23, 1929 in Long Beach, Calif., to Cushman “Davis” Jones and Marian L. Sandborn Jones. Marian was raised in Burbank, Calif., and graduated from Burbank High School. She lived in several different cities in southern California............ She married Harold “Jake” Jacobs Aug. 7, 1948. The Jacobs came to Oceana County, to Mears in 1977. They opened the Wooden Nickel Restaurant in Shelby and operated it from 1978 to 1983. Jake passed away June 2, 1996. Mrs. Jacobs was also a cook with Oceana Head Start for several years. Some of her joys in life were singing and cooking and she was a movie buff. She sang in operetta’s in high school and later sang many solo’s and duets and in trios. She enjoyed cooking for the Boy Scouts. Marian was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Hart................ Marian is survived by her children, Tassie Jacobs, George Jacobs, Mark (Cheryl) Jacobs and Edine Bronold; her grandchildren, Trevor Jacobs, Christina (John) Slachter, Debbie Sheppard, Yale Jacobs, Douglas Sheppard, Matthew (Amber) Sheppard and Laura Sheppard; and 12 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Marian was also preceded in death by her grandson, Jason Jacobs; and great-grandson, Johnathan Slachter............ She is survived by her parents and her sisters, Brooke Ward and Melanie Henderson, as well as her companion Gary Snyder. Her funeral services are private. Norma Lou Gottleber Soll, BHS 1942

Norma Lou Gottleber Soll, BHS 1942 4/5/1924 – 4/7/2015 ........... Norma Soll died April 7, 2015 in Santa Barbara, Calif. She celebrated her 91st birthday with family two days before. Norma Lou Gottleber was born in Los Angeles, Calif. She graduated from Burbank High School and spent two years at Los Angeles City College where she majored in business........... Norma was a multifaceted renaissance woman. As a young woman she aspired to be an actress. She studied drama and in her senior years starred in a national Tylenol TV commercial. Norma was also an accomplished artist. She played the piano and sang. For this she followed in her mother’s footsteps. She sang at weddings, funerals and other special events. She also sang the contralto solo of Handel’s Messiah. She was an accomplished stained glass artist and quilter. She also taught these disciplines. She designed and sewed many of her own and her daughter’s clothes. Norma had a long and successful professional career. She held numerous positions including assistant to the National Sales Manager at Lawry’s Foods. In the words of one of her former employers in the 1960s, “She had the unusual ability of doing a man’s job without losing her identity as a woman.” She owned a Christian Book Store and stained glass shop in North Lake Tahoe. Norma was a devout Christian. She taught the woman’s Bible study group at many churches, most recently as a member of Reality Church in Carpinteria. She also worked as an administrative assistant to the senior pastors at Hollywood Presbyterian Church and Magnolia Methodist Church. ...................

Family was her first love. She is survived by her husband, Armin Soll; brother, Robert Rose; sister, Joyce Johnson; son, Bruce Soll; daughters, Janet Garrison Swanson and Diane Stout; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. ................... Michael Harold Schackne, BHS 1963

March 18, 1944 - October 24, 2015 

Mike passed away Saturday October 24, 2015 around 5:30 am. He had been undergoing treatment for several months. It started with inability to breathe due to fluid in his lungs. Biopsy of lung tissue was sent all over the country with the help of Bob Reback, Dave's brother. Not one expert could determine what it was. They suspected mesothelioma but the chemotherapy given to him did not work. He got an infection in his colon as he was taking drugs with anti-bacterial properties which affects the immune system. He became weaker, lost his appetite, lost weight and was hospitalized. 

He and the family were told on the 22nd that there was nothing more they could do medically: it is terminal. Mike went home with hospice care, his choice, where he spent his last hours with his family by his side. His funeral was held at Mount Sinai Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills, California on October 27, 2015, at the TaNaCH Chapel, 5950 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, California.

Antoinette "Toni" Girard, BHS 1979

Antoinette Girard was born March 1, 1961, in Burbank, California, the fifth child, the baby of the family, born to William and Frances Girard. 

Affectionately called Toni and Tata Toni. Growing up in Burbank, she made lifelong friends and enjoyed working at the Party shop during her early adult years. In 1996, she took the road of adventure with her parents and daughter and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. She spent the next few years lovingly raising her daughter, Marissa, and helping her parents through their elder years. 

In 1998, Toni met the love of her life, Tim Smith. Toni enjoyed watching General Hospital every day. Tim got her addicted to watching sports on TV (sumo)! Toni enjoyed going to the nearby recreational center to exercise and socialize with her friends and the many new ones she made there. Toni lived a very full and happy life in her short 54 years and would want all of her beloved family and friends to remember her beautiful smile, vibrant personality and caring soul. A friend to many, Toni was a true living angel. 


Toni is survived by her daughter Marissa (Girard) Lindsay, brothers Jim Girard (Darlene) of Sunland, CA; Billy Girard of Las Vegas, NV; sister Janice Stanley (Dan), Acton, CA. Toni is also survived by 9 nieces and nephews,16 great nieces and nephews and many extended family and friends.

Major Gregory Lee Harm, BHS 1966 June 19, 1948 - October 16, 2015 Major Gregory Lee Harm, 67, USMC (Ret.), passed away Friday, October 16, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. Loving husband to MaryAnn Sanzone-Harm and devoted father to Alison Brown (Rick), Erin Harm and Grant Harm (Bekkah); grandfather of Nathan Proffitt, Ricky Brown, Nick Brown, Alex Harm and Tristan Harm. Brother of Sally Gross (Fletcher) and Patricia Abraham (John); brother-in-law of Pat Gorecki; best friend to Colonel Valentino Lendaro, USMC (Ret.). -----------------Greg was born on June 19, 1948, in Huron South Dakota to Henry and Ruth Harm. He attended Burbank high school, graduating in 1966. Greg attended UCSD for two years, University of Gottingen in Germany, for one year, graduating from the University of South Dakota with a degree in History. After graduating, Greg opted to enlist in the US Marine Corps after receiving a draft notice from the US Army, where he was on active duty for 22 years; during this time he received a master's degree in Systems Analysis from the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey. --------------- Greg will forever be loved by those he left behind. At the time of his death he was surrounded by his wife, family and friends in his San Diego home. A memorial service will be held at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, California on November 10, 2015 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Major Gregory Lee Harm to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Please consider designating specifically "for bladder cancer research" or feel free to contribute to a charity of your preference. The family is especially grateful to Doctor Andrew Hampshire and his entire staff, in addition to the team at Sharp Hospice Care.
