Evelyn A. Colvin Schaub, BHS 1935

SCHAUB, EVELYN A., 86, a loving mother and homemaker, passed away in Dallas, Texas on September 16, 2004. She was born September 7, 1918. the 4th child of Harold and Josephine Colvin of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She attended elementary school at Loretto Academy in Santa Fe.

She and her family moved to Burbank, California in 1929 where she attended Burbank High School, graduating in 1935. In 1935, she married Oscar F. Schaub, a Burbank resident since 1922, who also graduated from Burbank High School in 1933. 

She and her husband were longtime residents of the City of Burbank, where her husband Oscar, a twice wounded WWII Marine Corps. veteran, was a Burbank city employee for 23 years before retiring in 1973. 

Preceded in death by her husband, Oscar (1977), and her brothers, Harold Colvin, James Colvin and Theodore Colvin; sister, Betty Mohr, and her daughter Teresa Schaub. She is survived by her brother, George Colvin of Burbank, California; sister, Florence Carroll of Keaau, Hawaii and sister-in-law, Martha Ballard of South Gate, California and her daughters Patricia Carr, Judith Sanabria, Mary Matasso and Dolores Vincent and her sons Frederick Schaub and Timothy Schaub, 25 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. 

Evelyn and her husband Oscar were one of the founding families of St. Finbar Catholic Church and School in Burbank. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for 60 years and served as the Court St. Anthony Grand Regent and California State District Deputy. She was also Girl Scout leader, Room Mother and member of the Parent Teacher Association at St. Finbar School. 

Evelyn was a loving and caring person who was devoted to her family and loved to play with and read to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She could never pass by a baby without trying to kiss or hug him/her. She loved life and everyone she came in contact with, especially strangers whom she could quickly make feel right at home. 

Rosary/wake service will be held on Sunday, September 19th at 8 pm at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Monday, September 20th at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Dallas. 

Burial will take place at the San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Los Angeles, California.
