William "Bill" Joseph Murray, BHS 1956

March 4, 1938 – December 21, 2024

Bill Murray was born and raised in Burbank.  He attended George Washington elementary school, John Muir Junior high and graduated from Burbank high in the class of 1957.  

During his life, Bill liked to water ski on the Colorado river and sometimes race his flat bottom ski boat, ride dirt bikes all around the California deserts, halibut fish out of Marina del Rey, restore old cars and stream fish and camp in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.  

Bill was a long time member of the Road Kings car club and attended almost every car show, he restored 3 classic cars and was happy to show them off. For many, many years he could be seen daily at the Burbank Athletic club and Noah’s bagels.  Bill and his wife of 50 years, Dorothy moved to the Reno, Nevada area in July of 2024 to be closer to family.  Bill passed away at home, surrounded by his family.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and mostly by those who love him.  

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, his daughters Terry and Andrea and his granddaughter, Hannah.

His parents and siblings have proceeded him in death. Parents, Harold Murray, Lala Murray.  Siblings,  Jack Murray and Joanne Anderson.

December 26, 1953 - November 2, 2010

Robert (Bob) Bronner passed away on October 12, 2010 at the young age of 56. Bob finally lost his six year battle with kidney cancer. He put up a valiant fight but God decided it was time to go Home. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Bob was born to Catherine and George Bronner on Dec 26th, 1953. He grew up in Burbank, CA and moved to the Bay Area in the early 70's. He made many friends in the San Jose area and those friends lasted his entire life. Bob had a great love for sailing, playing bluegrass music on his guitar, and had recently acquired a special bond with his driving horse, Smoke. His entrepreneurial spirit, infectious smile and great sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone he met and he will be greatly missed.

Bob leaves behind, his fiancee, the love of his life, Kendra Wilson. He also leaves behind his brother John Bronner and sisters Barbara O'Connor, Carol Kean and Mary Walker. His brother and sisters' spouses had a special place in Bob's heart - Cindy Bronner, Bob O'Connor, Dennis Kean and John Walker. He will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews: Kelly McKenzie, Andrew Siefert, Cathryn Heyn, Laura O'Connor and Hayley Walker. He is also survived by Cindy's sons and their wives; Chuck and Diana Smith, and Aaron and Rebecca Smith. Bob had great nieces and nephews who will miss growing up and knowing their Uncle Bob.

A mass was held at the San Juan Batista Misson on Sat, Nov 13th at 11:00am. The mission is located at

A "Celebration of Life" party followed at 1:00pm at the El Toro Brewing Co. located at 17605 Monterey Rd, Morgan Hill, CA 95037. Tropical or festive attire is suggested. (Bob wouldn't want it any other way)

In Loving Memory of Alice Jean Moore Robinson

Alice, a beloved daughter, wife, exceptional mother, and adored grandmother, passed away peacefully on 1/7/2025. She was a woman of many talents and passions, leaving behind a legacy of love, adventure, and faith.

Born to Ernie and Betty Moore, Alice, was known from a young age for her out of the box thinking and love of God’s creation. She excelled in guitar and enjoyed playing with her family on vacation. As a young woman, she jumped horses, raced sled dogs, mapped rivers for white water companies and traveled with her family. All those skills would help when raising 3 boys and all their friends.

As a mom of three boys, she stayed one step ahead of their limitless energy as well as their friends. She was gentle with boxing and wrestling injuries and then firm when knife juggling practice got too fast or close. She was always growing in her love and care for her family. 

In 1992 she started with Los Angeles Maritime institute. She immediately won the mom title from many young men and women that needed such love and focus. She always sought to say “yes but…” so there was always a means of communication and loving understanding conveyed to young people struggling to adapt in a world of so many negatives. She earned a USCG License to sail tall ships and became known as Captain Mom. 

Her lifelong dream of owning her own horse was fulfilled in her best friend Razmataz. This had the added blessing of a “barn” family that enjoyed her fellowship and trail time. Above all, Alice was a devoted Christian whose faith was central to her life. She was known for her deep love for children, dedicating much of her time to teaching, mentoring, and simply being a beacon of joy and guidance to the young ones around her. Her home was always open, filled with laughter, stories, and the warmth of family gatherings.

She is survived by her husband, George, children Matthew, Jason and Travis, and grandchildren Luke, Isabel, Myra, Nolen, Mason, Noelle, Owen, Titus and Tanyn, as well as numerous friends who felt like family. Alice was predeceased by her younger brother Burbank Fireman Alan Scot Moore.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Los Angeles Maritime Institute, reflecting her lifelong commitment to helping children and spreading the message of faith and love on the Swift of Ipswich.

Alice will be remembered not just for her remarkable achievements but for the love, kindness, and joy she spread wherever she went. Her spirit, one of adventure, faith, and unconditional love, will continue to guide and inspire all who knew her.

Sherrie Helen King-Sletten, 66, passed away in Colorado Springs, Colorado on January 26, 2023. She was born on December 11, 1956 in Cortez, Colorado to William Ray King and Marion Lavern Caylor. Sherrie was a laboratory technician.

Sherrie is survived by her two children; and her sister, Renee Lavern King. She was proceeded in death by her parents, William Ray King and Marion Lavern Caylor. 

NOTE: From her sister - She passed away suddenly due to a ruptured aneurysm in her aorta causing a massive stroke instantly.

Carolyn (Carrie) Marie Bos Stanoff, BHS 1979

Carolyn (Carrie) Marie Stanoff, BHS 1979

CLAYTON, CA — Carolyn (Carrie) Marie Bos Stanoff died May 5, 2020.

Carrie had been diagnosed with glioblastoma (brain cancer) in December 2015. Carrie fought bravely and remained positive during her treatment. Initially, medical professionals’ prognosis was 14 months, but she lived 5½ years.

Carrie was born in Chicago in 1961. Her family moved to Burbank, where Carrie excelled academically and athletically at Burbank High School. She later graduated with honors from Cal State Northridge with a degree in journalism.

After working 10 years as a writer and journalist, Carrie became a marketing manager for several engineering firms. She was an excellent writer and enjoyed collaborating with colleagues on projects. She was known for her bright and positive outlook, and people enjoyed working with her.

Carrie passed away with courage and grace, surrounded by her family and friends. She was a woman of strong Christian faith who loved her family, friends and Clayton. She was a very intelligent woman with a wonderful sense of humor.

Carrie is survived by her loving husband Gary, devoted son Zachary, mother Violet Bos and sister Laura Younkman.

Donations can be made in Carrie’s name to the Cancer Support Community in ­Walnut Creek.

Jackie Petersen passed away peacefully in San Diego on Wednesday December 18, 2024 at the age of 94. She was born February 7, 1930 in Burbank, California, the daughter of Mary Baker (Hess) and Harry Baker. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Bob Petersen, in 2018. She is survived by her son John Petersen (Shelagh) of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Nicolee Nourani (Robert) as well as grandchildren David (Caitlin), Eric and Joseph Nourani of San Diego.

She met her husband at Burbank High School and they were married in Burbank in 1951. She attended UCLA and San Jose State and taught elementary school in San Jose. In 1957 Bob and Jackie moved to San Diego where Bob worked in the aerospace industry and Jackie worked at home raising John, born 1956 and Nicolee, born 1958. Jackie returned to teaching in 1973, first substituting a few years, then teaching at Lowell Elementary School, working in the ESL program, until her retirement in 1990. She subsequently spent several years tutoring. Jackie also volunteered at Presbyterian Urban Ministries and the San Diego Uplift program. For over 60 years, Jackie and Bob were active members of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Point Loma and enjoyed singing in the choir and serving in various other areas.

Jackie and Bob loved spending time with family. They traveled extensively in the US and abroad and especially enjoyed camping and backpacking.

A celebration of life will be held for Jackie on March 8th, 2025 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church at 3598 Talbot St., San Diego, CA 92106, at 11:00 AM.

Janice Marlene Krenzer Keder, BHS 1948

December 22, 1930 - December 10, 2024

Janice Marlene Krenzer Keder died December 10, 2024, just shy of her 94th birthday, due to Alzheimer's disease. Jan was born December 22, 1930, at home in Dodge County, Nebraska. She spent her early years on a farm in rural Nebraska where she attended a one room school. In 1941 her family moved to California to seek better economic opportunity. Jan graduated from Burbank High School and earned an A.A. from Glendale College. 

During a sum
mer trip to Nebraska, she met Wilbert Keder at a Farmers Union Hall dance. They married in 1951 in Pittsburgh, PA where Bert was a graduate student. During the next three decades she raised four children while living in Richland, WA and Bradford, PA. She returned to school during the 1970s and obtained both her B.A. and M.L.S. at the University of Pittsburgh. Jan went on to work professionally at Pitt Bradford, on Semester at Sea, and as science librarian at Colorado College until her retirement in 1996.

Jan's many interests included world travel (to all 7 continents), reading, gardening, quilting, playing word games, spending time with friends, and instructing her family how to load the dishwasher. 

Her husband Bert, son John (Cheryl), and son-in-law Bill Gignac (Nan) preceded her in death. Her survivors include her brother Richard Krenzer (Sandi); her daughters Nan, Lisa (Bill Pohlman), and Martha; her daughter-in-law Cheryl; her grandchildren Nicki, Austin, Tyler, Elliot, Neal, and Carl; and honorary son Uddhav.

 A formal service is not planned. Her family will fulfill her request to scatter her ashes on the Oregon coast. In memory of Jan, please consider a donation to the Colorado College Summer Music Festival.

Bret Alan Michel died on October 1, 2005, in Burbank, California. He was 39. Michel was born on April 8, 1966, in Glendale, California and attended Burbank High School.

He is survived by his parents Louis and Gayle Michel; sons Casey and Trevor Michel; sister Shelley Marthaller and brother-in-law Sean; nephew Jacob and niece Destiny Marthaller.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Valley Funeral Home Chapel, 2121 W. Burbank Blvd, Burbank. Interment will follow at Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park, 10621 Victory Blvd., North Hollywood.
