Penelope Whittemore Rehrig, BHS 1959

Penny was born on February 3, 1942 in San Diego, CA. Her early days were spent in San Diego before the family moved to the San Fernando Valley. She graduated from Burbank High School in June of 1959. After graduation she attended Airline School Pacific where she got her flight attendant training and was hired by an airline that had government contracts to move service personnel around the world.

Penny married Richard Rehrig in 1961 at the First Methodist Church in Burbank. She worked in the travel departments of Jet Propulsion Labs and Hughes Aircraft Company before getting her dream job working as a secretary in the Bob Hope organization in Toluca Lake.

They moved to the San Diego area in 1985 where Penny became active at the RSF golf club and Village Church. She took up tole painting and became a very accomplished painter; she knitted, sewed and was excellent at decorating, gardening and all crafts and handy work. She was a volunteer receptionist for the Village Church and active in various church groups, she loved the office comradely, meeting people and serving the church.

She lost her battle to melanoma cancer on December 2, 2025 with her husband and daughter at her side.

Services were held at the Village Church in Rancho Santa Fe on Friday December 19, 2025 with interment at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills.
