July 12, 1929 – July 23, 2026
Arthur (Art) Cobery, 97, of La Crescenta passed away peacefully in his home on July 23 with his loving family by his side. He was born on July 12, 1929 in Fall River, Massachusetts.
After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, Art went on to become a devoted husband, father and grandfather as well as an active member of the La Crescenta community and historical society. He dedicated much of his life to serving as an inspiring teacher where he shared his passion for history not only with the countless students he taught at Burbank High School, but with everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was the life of any party he attended and family and friends will always remember his infectious laugh, his perfectly-timed puns and his love for telling stories.
Art leaves behind a legacy of love, community stewardship and preservation of history.
A funeral Mass will be held for Art on Aug. 14 at 11 a.m. at Saint James the Less Church, 4651 Dunsmore Ave. in La Crescenta, followed by burial at San Fernando Mission Cemetery.
